It wouldn't surprise me at all if he takes over for Delhomme next year. I think that's one of the reasons they got him, they say that Jake is the unquestioned starter, but I wouldn't take that to the bank if I were Delhomme. He better watch out with those garbage games next year, Carr might end up with the job by the end of the year.

Carr's never going to be great. He may not even ever be above league average. But he's probably better than Jake Delhomme.

I agree, I don't think he's gonna be a Pro Bowler, but he might have a better year than Delhomme's able to put together. I think he has the tools to be able to play a few games. I think they should look into another free agent/qb in the draft if Carr does play. He's certainly not the QB of the future, but I think he'll play next year.

Congratulations Carolina, you just doubled the number of average QBs on your roster.

He'll be in heaven when comparing their line to Houston's though.

If he gets the chance to play (Delhomme is on a big decline), he should do VERY well.

Great! Finally, someone to challenge/overtake that glorified backup Jake Delhomme!

Re: Carr signs with Carolina as the backup

I live in Charlotte and let me tell you, people will be calling for Carr before preseason is over. People here are sick and tired of Delhomme and his ranting and raving during the games and his basically below average play. They we asking for Weinke all season, so you know Carr is going to get his run. I believe Carr, giving a better offensive line, and better run game, could be a productive QB. Carolina lost two of its starting lineman in the season opener. They should have everyone back and healthy and the Oline should be a lot better. If Carr doesn't start the season, he will be in by week 5 or 6.

Personally, I hope they keep Delhomme in because I freaking hate Carolina, all most as bad as the Cowboys. These fans down here are so fair weather is ridiculous. If they are winning, the bars are packed, but if they lose 2 or 3 games, the bars are empty. Plus, I see people driving to the stadium at 12:30 for a 1:00 game. Half the fans don't even show up until midway through the 2nd, or at halftime. I hope they go 0-16. They get on my damn nerves. At least I can say us Redskin fans are there game in and game out, no matter what the record. We proadly display our flags and car maginets.. they only show them if they are winning.

Wasn't Gibbs contemplating coaching for the Panthers a few years back?

Amen. I wish we could play in Charlotte every year cuz it's so easy to get tix and the upper half of the stadium is mostly Skins fans. The stupid roaring cat gets annoying but it's a small price to pay. (when the Skins play on a different day than the Panthers I still go just cuz I love going to NFL games and it's easy to get tix). People don't arrive early cuz there is no parking lot for tailgating and cooking or drinking on city street parking is frowned on. Local stations give little coverage unless they're undefeated. And the amount of football knowledge is amazingly low for an area with a team.

Re: Carr signs with Carolina as the backup

Good move for them, ya never know he might end up competing for the starting job. Hard to make an honest assessment of Carr after Houston.
