Us Against the world
What’s going on Skins fan? Man, it’s truly us against the world. Everybody and their momma are picking us to get blown out against the New England Patriots. I guess I didn’t get the memo to be on that bandwagon. People might say I’m smoking something, which could be true, or I could be a blind diehard Skins fan. I won’t deny either LOL. I don’t want to come out here and talk about spreads and us being competitive, which to me makes no sense to talk about. I’m here to tell you that we are winning this game. Let me tell you why.
First off, our defense isn’t the Bills, Jets, Cowboys, Bengals, Dolphins, Chargers and Browns. We have the 3rd best defense in the league. The last time I checked those squads don’t play real defense. Secondly, we have an awesome secondary. We got Springs, Rogers, Smoot, Landry, and Taylor. Springs likes playing in the slot and Welker isn’t good enough to beat Shawn Springs. Randy Moss will get double teamed (nobody in the league can play Moss man-to-man) with Taylor probably overtop. Finally you got the speedster Dante Stallworth; he’s the most interesting match up. I think we might see if he can beat us. But hey we’ll probably play a lot of cover 2 anyway; it’s worked great this year so far. Besides, it ain’t like Ben Watson is going to be playing. Watson is basically their down the middle threat, so we don’t have to worry about that. Finally we have Joe Gibbs. I think bunch of people have forgotten that Joe does his best work when people are underestimating his team. Like the scabs, during the strike year, when we beat up on the Cowboys in 87. Even the Broncos that year were favored to beat our tails in the Superbowl. We all know what happen in that game. We are going into enemy territory and all we have is our balls and our word (sorry it’s a Scarface quote; it sounded good). So let’s just put our faith in Joe! He’s never steered us wrong. He has made the Redskins acknowledgeable again. The media can talk about Coach Belicheck all they want, but he ain’t nothing compared to Joe. Besides I don’t know about you all but I’m sick and tired on hearing about the Patriots like we are some JV squad. Yeah the offense played bad last week but the so called analysts fail to realize that we had a make shift offensive line. My man Rabach is back and that will help our offense. Jason Campbell has played great football. The media and many football fans probably would’ve talked about our offense differently if Santana Moss and others would have held on to the ball against Green Bay. Perception and reality is a dangerous game. Our offense isn’t as bad as the stats show. We know that Santana won’t drop passes all day and we know that it’s a matter of time till CP carries our squad like he did 2 years ago. So if the Patriots are sleeping on our offense then let’em. This ain’t a game this is war for some respect. And we are going to just take it. Redskins nation it’s time to stand together and unite this week. Because I say the Patriots and the nation will not be eating humble pie, but instead they will be eating some good ole fashion crow. Feel free to hit me up with a comment @ DemSkins.Com

Re: Us Against the world
I agree Re: Campbell. A lot of the little stuff he wasn't doing before the bye is being done now. It's safe to say that he's now consistently completing 60% of his passes on a weekly basis. That's all a QB really has control over. Sure he didn't get a lot of chances against Arizona to make the big play, but he did his job in the face of some pretty serious pressure.
The rest of the offense has to make sure that drives are sustained, and that Campbell gets to throw more than 20 passes in a game.

Re: Us Against the world
I agree too.. I was wondering same thing when I see Redskins fans picking Patriots against us.. I'm college student, which means I meet lot of people who re football fans.. Every time I talked about Redskins, they all told me, "OHH NE Patriots will win in blowout game!!" Even though I tried to explain them about our D and the abilities our O have.. But they won't bother to listen me.. So you guys cannot blame me for wanting and believing in a victory this sun..
p.s. we might see Randy Moss walking off the field early |

Re: Us Against the world
I agree that this is a much better match up than a lot people think. I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said before, but our D is the best the Pats have faced this season and matches up well with them; with everyone under the sun marking this down as an easy win for the Pats, even they might be tempted to look past us at Indy; our offense has been just one click off from firing up - if this ends up being the week when receivers start hanging onto balls, everyone might just be in for a shock; and - as someone else pointed out - Joe Gibbs is a cagey coach - we can't rule out the possibility that he's been holding parts of the game plan back just for this game. Going up against "number one" brings out the desire to win like nothing else, especially for competitive people like Gibbs.
So, does this mean an easy win for us? No, of course not. New England probably is the top team in the NFL this season, so it will be a challenge to win. It will also require a few things going our way, like having our receivers finally hang onto balls, getting a turnover from the Pats, eliminating our turnovers, an emotional high for us, and possibly a little let down for the Pats. If we get those breaks, I think we will win. If we don't, I still think it'll be a lot closer than people think. Even if we don't get the breaks we need and lose, I think our D will actually show the rest of the league how you beat the Pats and will have every defense coordinator facing New England snuggled down to watch our game film. |

Re: Us Against the world
This is a perfect spot to be, nobody gives us respect. If you think that this type of lack of respect won't lite a fire, wait till you see the results. Now if Joe could get fired up like the Detroit game, that would be priceless!!!

I couldn't agree more. REDSKINS SHOCK PATS Just think back to the opening game this year against Philadelphia. Remember they surveyed the USA and every state in the country picked the Skins to lose. History repeats itself. Don't be a pessimist

Have to agree with Berto, we can't play a full 60 minutes of intense football, just a half then we throttle back then peter out towards the end. On top of that our WR corp is playing like a bunch of chumps. Most overpaid bunch of underachievers ever to take the field in the Burgundy and Gold. Even Andre Reed and Alvin Harper got in the end zone for us when we had Jeff George for godsakes. If we had Thomas and Jansen CP would have hit 100 yds in most of our games. I don't think we should worry about the probable loss, but what kind of injuries we might sustain in the game. |

I too, like being the underdog in games. And as much as I would love to agree with you and say that the Skins are going to win or they are going to keep it close I just can't. We would have to play a perfect game, and that's something we can't do against mediocre teams.

We seem to play better against the better teams than the so-so teams.

Re: Us Against the world
Hmm you brought interesting point..... that was "last year". Rogers is playing better ball than he did last year.

Re: Us Against the world
That 16.5 spread is crazy. That actually had me heated. But honestly we have to go out and execute!!! I too believe in my heart we can win, ONLY if our offense shows up.
People...we WILL need either Lloyd or McCardell to step up big time. This game could change outlooks on Buster Lloyd.lol.lol.

Re: Us Against the world
How are we going to score? If you thought Arizona brought pressure wait till you see what the Pats bring. That spread is indicative to what everyone else knows other than most in redskin land, Gibbs will not change he will try to shorten the game with the run without being able to run it, in so doing keeping the defense on the field for most of the game, and we will be treated to all the same excuses we get after we lose a game in typical fashion, we have to hope Williams can keep the game close because Gibbs ain't! We have a team that can't score going against a team that is on pace to set a scoring record, I don't care how good your defense is they are not going to hold up for an entire game against that offense without a lot of help from our offense. The 16+ points is a very accurate spread under the circumstances.
