D.C. Mayor Want's Team Back In D.C.
Today Washington D.C. Mayor Andrian Fenty announced that he has submitted a written proposal to get the Redskins back in D.C.
He wants the team to play in a re-built RFK stadium. The article will probably appear in tomorrow's Washington Post. |

You could have to live in Philly where no one has worn an iggles jersey since week 17. They think the egirls are better than us, and we got lucky. I got annoyed that if i wear a skins jersey when they are out, you don't know much about the team! I want to be in DC!

Re: Redskins Mayor Trying To Get Team Back To D.C.
Can the re-built RFK be built to the same specs as Qwest Field? I'd like to see the team back in the District, though I must say that I worry when cities like D.C., with so many pressing needs, subsidize billionaire owners with lavish stadium/infrastructure deals. I'm very skeptical that such moves ever work out in the favor of anyone other than the owners (and maybe the politicians who get good publicity from it). But I'm no economist ... If Jim Schwartz were the coach he'd know the answer.

It depends on the deal they put together but with a franchise like the Skins or anyother big team it is win win situation.

Re: Redskins Mayor Trying To Get Team Back To D.C.
it can not happen, who would buy Fed Ex field???Plus the deal with PG county would cost to much to get out of.The reason the Redskins are worth so much is mostly real estate value.DC will not sell RFK and won't give up all the stadium rights .........so no untill the deal is thru in PG and you have 12 more years on it and you tear down RFK becuase it can not be "re built" who builds the new stadium and how much do you think that will run the ticket holders?

There's some literature out there on the subject & opinions vary, but I recall reading more often than not that economists don't think pro sports are a good investment for a locality in terms of return.

Re: D.C. Mayor Want's Team Back In D.C.
12th Man - I would think it would be more cost efficient to build a completely new stadium right next to RFK from the ground up considering Synder is going to want the biggest attendence stadium in the NFL and the Cowboys will be at 100,000 when their new stadium is completed - there is no way you could make RFK that big, so wouldn't they just build an entire new stadium with a portable roof so they could have the largest attendence and also have the ability to host a Super Bowl too?

I believe they were talking about 2010-2012? Don't quote me on that one. By the way, this isn't a rumor |
