OT: NFL Network: Top 10 College Coaching Flops

NFL Network is airing one of their top 10 countdowns based on the worst college to pro coaches in the history of the league. Now the question is where will Spurrier come in? Personally I think hes going to be in the top 3, but for me my top college coaching flop will have to be Jimmy Johnson. Anyone that leads the Cowboys to two Super Bowl titles and leaves them primed for a third is a terrible coach in my book.

Will be interesting to see if they rank Butch Davis among the top 10, especially considering his history with the Network.

I think that if anything the guys who make the list will be Bobby Petrino, Steve Spurrier, Lou Holtz, Nick Saban, Dennis Ericson, Mike Riley, Butch Davis, and Rich Brooks.

Bobby Petrino has got to take the #1 spot. As for Jimmy Johnson, wasn't he forced out? Plus you can't possibly be a flop if you win two Super Bowls!

But he won them for the Cowboys. To me thats unforgiveable.

I was watching the "America's Game" series on NFL Network the other night on the '93 Cowboys. Jimmy Johnson was one of the three interviewees, and he said that immediately after winning the Super Bowl he wasn't sure if he wanted to come back. He said that he never coached anywere longer than five straight years, and thought it might be time to move on. A night at a bar drinking with Jerry Jones got pretty heated, and apparently things were said which helped Johnson out the door. Officially, it was a mutual parting.

Good thing too -- the 'chips might have won two more in a row if he'd stayed. As much as I hate to admit it, they had a helluva team.

Considering Johnsons philosophy on getting young this makes alot of sense. He knew how to build a team, but not how to rebuild it. Could you honestly see him getting rid of the tripplets for youth had he stayed longer (a few more seasons)? According to his ideals on youth he would have had to. He was too close to his stars for that IMO (based on player commentary).

Seriously, Jimmy Johnson??? He didn't leave....he was kind of forced out by Jerry. Jerry thought he could do what Jimmy did, which was talent evaluation, and after Switzer one a superbowl with Jimmys players, Jimmys offense, Jimmy's playbook her decided to leave also. That is just cowboy hating if you say Jimmy Johnson was a FLOP as an NFL coach. He is one of the best talent evaluaters that was in the NFL.

I don't know that anyone could have as bad a 2nd year as the ole ball coach did w/our beloved Skins. His first year was acceptable, but the team then nosedived in the 2nd half of the 03 season w/T. Hassellback putting up a 0 passer rating v. Dallas.

When I think about it, those times seem thankfully like light years ago. If ever you think Joe Gibbs didn't do a good job in his 2nd stint, watch some tape of the 2nd half of the season of the 03 Skins, that team totally tanked. Gibbs took over the next year & rebuilt this franchise.

Freddy, I don't care who the coach is, when your starting QB is Tim Hasselbeck, you're screwed. Of course the same can be said for Shany Matthews and Waffle or whatever his name was.
