Taylor Gets a Slap on the Wrist

Apparently he is at again. Missed a meeting but Gibbs and staff are keeping it low key. No presss on this. But Bram from WTEM reported this after the game on the post game report. Didn't start but almost got burned by Galloway on dropped TD pass. Looks like he fell on Galloway after play and Baby boy got up and never returned to the Game. (Galloway that is)

So lets see what happens. Saw alot of Lott, Bowen, and Franz. Do not miss meetings my friend this is the NFL not Miami

The way Bowen and Lott played we can afford to bring Taylor along slowly.

Him sitting on our bench is a waste. Let him get his feet wet. He'll get burned a few times, but he has spectacular playmaking ability that I doubt we'll see from any other safety.

I disagree daseal, if he missed a meeting at his age when he has so much to learn, then he should be on the bench, it's the only way he will learn to be a real pro. rewarding him for disrespecting team rules, not only will encourage more, but will also send the wrong message to the rest of the team, gibb's know's better!

Its only fair to the other safeties that went to all of the meetings that they should get the playtime.

taylor will feel better this week and get the start vs the Giants.

This is an example of what I said soon after Gibbs signed on here. The players will have to get used to playing for Joe Gibbs. It does not matter who you are or where you were drafted or how much of a signing bonus you got. If you break a team rule - or if you make repeated stupid plays - you will find your butt on the bench.

That never happened at Miami. And that never happened here since Gibbs left twelve years ago. But them's the rules folks. If players who think they are entitled to a starting job or to playing time don't adjust, they are going to be very unhappy campers.

Hopefully, Taylor learned a lesson. I'm not going to bet the ranch on the fact that he did because this one instance probably has to overcome a lifetime of his football abilities getting him preferential treatment that he has gotten used to. But the next time he does something like this, he'll probably "catch on".

100% on target, Curmudgeon. And not just Gibbs. Any of the all-time truely great coaches operated that way. If Taylor is the guy we think he is, he will turn this into a positive and learn from it. Could not have been handled better than the way Gibbs did it with a mild slap and no publicity.

matty I think your right, we can afford to bring him along slowly, especially in the beginning. if williams thinks he needs to teach him a lesson nows the time to do it. there's no dout about his skills but we don't want a sapp, keyshawn,owens on the loose.

The media suspected he was still feeling the effects of a virus that he had earlier in the week. The Skins obviously did not release the info to the media before hand, so they stated the most common sense answer they could think of at the time. We now know otherwise.

ALL players miss a meeting at some point in their career, and they all get punished for it (unless they have an acceptable excuse, of course). Taylor should not be the exception to the rule. He didn't get fined (that we know of) or suspended. Just a simple slap that will wake him up a bit. Young players need this every now and then.

Taylor is the starter, not Lott, and I fully expect to see him ball-hawking with the first team next Sunday.

To ensure the best team possible, sometimes you have to bench the most talented players.

Sean Taylor will be great, but being great involves being a presense on and off the field.

A team does not revolve around individuals. It has to work as a whole, with the trust and assurance that the man standing next to them knows just as much about the game plan and has worked just as hard to earn their spot as them.

Until ST proves he can be as good off the field as he is on it, I think that Lott should get the nod...

ST is learning what it takes to be a Gibbs Redskin.
HOWEVER, Lott played well and ST got burned by Galloway but ANY safety would have been burned by him on that play. ST needs to be on the field soon; he is a difference maker causing fumbles, interceptions etc..

Note to Taylor.......Grow up!!! This is real life. Not some school where they hold your hand! Step up and start being a man!

From everything I've read today Williams has denied that Taylor was being punished so we should probably not be so quick to jump to conclusions.

He said they were running some complicated stuff and Taylor will earn time as he deserves it.

With the way Lott has stepped up I don't see the need to rush Taylor. Looking good in the preseason is one thing, making plays when the bullets are live is a whole different ball game.
