JLC...Being JLC (Colors Critique of Haynesworth Deal with Nonsense)
A $100 Million Gamble? - Redskins Insider
He raises some valid, if not obvious points, but seriously dude, let the cat have his presser before you're annointing him the next FA bust and complaining about the 45 employees laid off. It sucks for them, no doubt-I'm in the same boat with them, but 4 other teams have had lay-offs as well. It's completely different sides of the business. JLC was on First Take this morning and when the question was, does this put Zorn on the hot seat he said no, it puts Vinny on the hot seat and spent 2 minutes railing against VC. He's so clearly got an axe to grind but I'm tired of reading about it in every article he writes about the team.

The comment about the employees was a low, irrelevant, and uneccesary blow by JLC
Also, I didn't realize that the Jason Taylor "experiment" was over or that the talent around Haynesworth ($100 million!) was better in Tennesee than he'll have here in DC. I'm sure Landry, Horton, Rogers, Hall, Griffin, Carter, Taylor, and Fletcher are thrilled to hear that. I think he's just upset that he totally missed the boat on this news

A quick note on cap space since he consistently talks about the Redskins having the 'worst cap in the league', among the teams that had less cap space than us as of Friday morning from Adam Schefter: LEAST Carolina $1.9 million New England $3.2 million Indianapolis $6.6 million Pittsburgh $7.4 million Washington $8.1 million

I'm not necessarily a huge fan of this move, but he was the best FA on the market by a mile, and has the potential to dramatically improve our entire defense. It seems like we took an unacceptable risk here, but i dont know the contract details and i dont know exactly whats going to happen with the CBA, so i'll reserve judgement for now. For someone wanting a positive take on the signing, here ya go: Jeffri Chadiha analyzes Albert Haynesworth's signing - ESPN Quote:

I do think that he has a arguable point to how much impact Haynesworth is expected to have and what he will actually perform. Tennessee does have a better attacking defense than us and Haynesworth was benefitting from that as well. He won't have the same luxury here if everyone expects him to be double and tripled teamed while everyone else has a hayday rushing the QB.

I don't doubt that he can name many of those people actually, but it's irrelevant to the Haynesworth signing.

You can say with certainty that Cortland Finnegan and Nick Harper is a better CB duo than Hall and Rogers? LDE Javon Kearse had 3.5 sacks last year with the Titans and RDE Kyle Vanden Bosch had 4.5 (granted he only played 10 games). LDE Jason Taylor had 3.5 sacks (didn't play a full season) and RDE Andre Carter had 4 sacks. They had Haynesworth in the middle, Carter and Taylor had Golston.

VC is on the hot seat if we don't win this year. It is a gamble to put $100 million dollars on a D tackle. They are in the trenches and get hurt frequently. 2 weeks out...4 weeks out..common occurences in the trenches. So no doubt this is a major gamble. I hope it works out. Haynesworth should make everyone better. |

What a douche JLC is. I agree with SS - the employee layoff comment was totally lame. It's pretty obvious how annoyed he is.

re: JLC...Being JLC (Colors Critique of Haynesworth Deal with Nonsense)
Also, where is he getting this "LaVar Arrington experiment didn't work" stuff? He wasn't an experiment. He was one of the best defensive players I've ever seen in college football, and we drafted the guy. Sure injuries derailed him, and he had his issues with the front office, but he had some solid years here (and a few pro-bowls) despite playing on a lot of lousy teams.
Funny how (for the sake of his argument) he conveniently doesn't even mention the distinct possibility of an uncapped year in 2010 and beyond. JLC is a bitter, sniveling little jerk.

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what happens to us next year without a CBA?

re: JLC...Being JLC (Colors Critique of Haynesworth Deal with Nonsense)
2010 will be uncapped we can do whatever we want with contracts pretty much. It may cost us big time $$ (not like Snyder cares), but we will have no cap to worry about. Given the $155M in contracts we just doled out and the 4 or 5 guys who restructured this week, I think it's safe to say we're pretty much banking on an uncapped season in 2010.
