Clearing the Air
About a couple of years ago I left the Warpath because of a thread about the movie, “Religulous”. Some of you probably remember this documentary by Bill Maher. I, myself, being devout in my religious beliefs felt that the movie, and/or, thread would be a sounding board for the unreligious to bash those who believed. I asked Matty to delete my account and I left the board. Years later, I decided to give it another go and have been back on the board for several months now. I recently went back and looked at that thread, and realized that I had overreacted. I was way off base. Out of fear of being bashed, I probably had given some a reason to rightfully bash me. So with that, I apologize for my overreaction with the thread. I haven’t seen the documentary; mainly because I don’t want to make Bill Maher a dime richer by renting something I feel will probably upset me. At the same time, I am curious to see what the documentary is all about. Knowing how Bill Maher is, it will probably turn me off to him more so than what I am now.
Neverthe less, I have to remind myself everyday that there are reasons for why people believe or don’t believe the way they do/don’t. All I need to do is to be a good example and “turn the other cheek” when the situation calls for it. In every forum I have ever been a part of, the subject of religion is always brought up and never seems to be discussed in a manner that is respectful for all sides. It is one of those “agree to disagree” type of subjects as is abortion, but I’ll admit that I was bracing myself to defend my beliefs. Hopefully if the subject ever comes up again, I will read each post clearly before proceeding! But I would much rather post in threads that deal with video games, computer programming, and that hot woman from the TV show Modern Family. But anyways, I just wanted to clear the air and say that I certainly hope I think before I post or even think about posting in threads such as that. I have to learn that if the subject bothers me, sometimes it’s best to not take part. I will say this though, in regards to the main subjects about the Washington Redskins, I will argue my point until I am blue in the face! I have been a long time fan of this team ever since I was about five years old, and I am a diehard fan who bleeds burgundy and gold. THAT, will never change, no matter how bad the Redskins get. I enjoy debating about my favorite team, and I have no problem with calling out those “Debbie Downers” of the board or even the unrealistic Kool-Aid drinkers (mainly because they won’t let me have a sip and tell me to get my own.) I love this team, and I love this board! Been here since 2004 and hope I’m here at least another six or seven years! Peace!

Re: Clearing the Air
Her name is Sophia Mergeras (sp?).
Haven't seen the movie, but not a Bill Maher fan at all. I don't really want to watch it but I know the premise. I grew up in a church as my mother was a devout christian. In my teenage years, I basically left the church, and never went back. A couple years ago, my wife and I wanted to get our young kids involved in some kind of church. It was a matter of finding the right one. We did. The new church is "a christian" church but is one that doesn't follow the path of alot of other churches. It's not fire and brimstone. It's one that teaches about everyday life thru the bible. It's about service. It's about making other peoples lives better. It's not political. It knows everybody is kinda of screwed up. |

I'm glad you and your wife found a good church to be in. I grew up in a fire and brimstone type of church and that's the type of church my parents and one of my brothers still attend. I'm still going there right now, but when my girlfriend and I get married (yes, have a feeling its heading that way) I will probably either start going to her church or we will find one that is a good compromise for both of us. I like a church that has good bible fundamentals, and one that gives you the biblical knowledge you need to apply it to every day life, not just in one aspect or another. Everybody is screwed up in their own little way. Nobody on this earth is perfect.

I was kind of glad the profile didn't get completely deleted. I tried using the other sites, but the colors on those sites are very hard on the eyes. I don't see how people can stand to read the Extreme Skins forums. I would literally go blind! Plus, this site seems to have about the right mix of people. We still have the core that's been here since about '04, and I'm seeing people coming here, probably from the other sites.

Re: Clearing the Air
I've learned over the years that most who leave, usually end up coming back. I don't delete accounts regardless.

Re: Clearing the Air
I've been around here a while and I don't even remotely remember any of this.
So whatever, welcome back.
