Will we draft a WR or get a free agent
What do u folks think is gonna happen? Plaxico, Steve Smith, Moss, Williams, Edwards. What is the senario that you see happening, or what do you want to see happen?
Me I see either one of two things happening... first senario: we get plaxico, and Draft Heath Miller in the first round. Second Senario: We miss Plaxico, take Mike williams in the first and get an upgrade in tightend through trade or free agentcy. I think the focus this year is to solve the problems on offense rather than drafting in the first for defense.

what i would like is for us to sign plaxico. hes huge with good speed, and still fairly young. in the first round i think we should trade down and get a second rounder. and assuming we get a 2nd rounder for gardner, heres what id like to see
1st rounder- David Pollack/Matt Roth- 2 guys who have unstoppable motors, and give a lot of heart with a lot of talent 2nd rounder- Elton Brown- Massive, strong, and experienced 2nd rounder- Top Center available

Don't understand why the huge sentement for Burress, the guy is M.Westbrook all over again he's nothing special, guy's are looking at him as if he's the second coming of Jerry Rice, 1 word for him UNDERACHIEVER! Don't want him, We will draft a reciever probably Edward's or Williamson, and while I am on it we are not drafting a TE in the first rd, mark it down!

Correct. We traded for the Saints THIRD ROUNDER last year for our SECOND ROUNDER... that makes sense.... BUT... we drafted Chris Cooley with that pick so looks like the jokes on me!

If we take a WR with the 9th pick I would only want Mike Williams. I would rather see us trade down and pick up and mid teens to early 20's and a 2nd rounder. With that I say we take a DE Erasmus James if for some reason he is there if not Marcus Spears or Matt Roth then with the 2nd rounder take Carlos Rodgers if it doesn't look like we will be getting Smoot back. If we do get Smoot back and/or get a 2nd rounder for Gardner I say we seriously look at Fred Gibson. He is a real solid WR with good height and speed. Could be the possession guy everyone thought Gardner would be. With our later picks I say go after O-lineman especially a center. Gibbs and co. are good at finding steals with lineman in the late rounds.

My bad C. I wasn't trying to be a smartass. I knew we didn't have either a 2nd or 3rd round pick, I just wasn't sure exactly which one. Relax dogg. |

I don't want to read too much into this, but I did find it kind of interesting that in his press conference Gibbs reiterated that finding a WR was a priority, as if to say, once again, that the person lined up behind center wasn't reallly the issue regarding the poor offense

1) Coles is no longer regarded as the receiver the Redskins will build around. There will be no surgery, and there is no feeling that we can count on him returning to peak form, though we all hope that it happens. 2) Gibbs said we are going to look at free agency to see if we can get a wide receiver we can build around, and to me what he left unsaid out of politeness is - to replace Coles' role as the cornerstone receiver. 3) Gibbs has very high hopes for Taylor Jacobs and the implication is that Gibbs sees him as a very productive starter in the reasonably near future, and maybe for next season. Yet, he is not seen as the cornerstone at this time. 4) If Jacobs becomes a starter, then he may pair with the cornerstone we hope to get in free agency. That leaves Coles as the #3 receiver. 5) Gibbs talking about free agency and cornerstones does lead me to think he has one receiver in particular in mind: Plaxico Burress. I'm not sure who else is out there as a free agent WR that would be likely to be seen as a cornerstone. 6) Yes, it suggests that Gibbs is saying that the quarterback is not the issue. Patrick Ramsey is seen as a guy who can do all the things you need to win a Super Bowl, and we have a lot of hope that we will have a solid offensive line to protect him - and thereby allow Clinton Portis to have a chance to shine, which in turn will make life much easier on Ramsey. |

Washington could be a good fit for Burress. Coles is a Hines Ward type receiever (granted not near as good) but he'll be able to open Burress up. I honestly don't get too psyched about Burress either, but no one coming out tickles me either.

Take WIlliams with the no. 1 or trade down. Joe's probably scared to take a Michigan WR in Edwards seeing his last no 1 Michigan pick was a bust.

Honestly, I think just upgrading the line to give Ramsey more time to throw will make our current receivers look THAT much better.
