Skins sign Patten
Over at extremeskins they have stated that the redskins have signed David Patten. I believe that this is a waste when we should have went after Burress . I think that this was a step back especially with our hole at mlb.

Re: Skins sign Patten
Patten fit Gibbs mold.....while Burress had some character issues........
Here's what CBSsportsline said: Why is Steelers receiver Plaxico Burress not getting more play on the free-agent market? Burress is 6-5, has the ability to get deep and he's only 27. That adds up to a good combination. But word has it that some teams are scared off by his attitude. The reality is Burress is not a bad guy. Plus, if a coach is secure enough in his own skin, shouldn't he be secure enough to think he can handle any little problem there could be with Burress? The Giants are interested in Burress, which means a possible marriage with Tom Coughlin. If Burress were a problem, Coughlin probably wouldn't take him on -- that much I know. There is some chatter that his off-the-field friends don't exactly Burress to teams. Someone even mentioned he hangs out with Snoop Dog, as if that's a bad thing. I'll say this about Burress: He's good friends with Jaguars running back Fred Taylor, who just might be the nicest guy in the entire league. He can't be a bad guy if he's a friend of Taylor. Teams are missing the boat on Burress, particularly teams like San Diego.

Re: Skins sign Patten
We need a receiver who can make plays and be reliable. I think that Patten fits both those needs.
You guys are right that Burress has a world of potential, but we're not in Vegas: It's a gamble!!!

Moss, Patten, Thrash, Jacobs, and possibly Williams OR Williamson.......I can deal with that. Now lets sign Smoot and go after Hartwell!!!!!

Re: Skins sign Patten
hartwell is inside lb...patten is a great move if we got him. hes shouldnt be too expensive, is dependable, is fast, can return kicks, and had a game where he pased, rushed, and recieved for a touchdown showing his versatility. he is a vet at 30, will be 31 when season starts. thats not all that bad, if we didnt give him a humongous paycheck. he has played in the big games, and has won superbowls. he had a solid year last year (800 yards 7 TDs) and gives it his all on the field. great pickup. you all were talking about how u didnt want big names, and this isnt a big one we might have gotten.

Re: Skins sign Patten
Im loving this signing if it's true.
Patten is cheap and reliable. Like the Rabach signing it isnt sexy, but sexy signings havent got us winning seasons recently. Patten and Rabach will do a job. Have we got figures for the Patten deal??

Re: Skins sign Patten
I definitely think this is Gibbs move, he likes vets who are reliable and team players. Patten is a Gibbs dream. Hes not the superstar or the top free agent but is a couple steps up from Gardner, at least he can catch passes that hit him between the numbers. Now with the whole coles moss trade I dont know what to think. If it happens I still see gibbs going after a receiver with their first pick. moss, patten and the deep threat mike williams.

Re: Skins sign Patten
Honestly, who ISN'T happy with what's been going on this off-season so far? Besides Pierce not resigning (which MIGHT be a blessing in disguise), we've retained some crucial players, we've made some key signings, there's not too much more I could ask for.

Re: Skins sign Patten
And you're talking about THIS Patten?! I have dial-up at home so I hadn't taken the liberty of looking up his stats.
