Any news on Gardner?

Has anyone heard anything? I can't believe that we are going to get through the draft and still have Garnder on our roster. Cutting him later for nothing in return would be flat out stupid.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

I haven't heard anything definitive, but I'm almost positive they'll end up trading him on draft day. They'll settle for a 4th or 5th rounder if they have to.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

I could see Gardner to Miami for our 9th and 25th in exchange for Jason Taylor and their 2nd. But maybe that is just wishful thinking.

No.

I've only heard draft day trade! Gardner's contract demands are holding it up. The FO will try to obtain the best value.

Definitely wishful thinking. Why would Saban give up a proven stud pass rusher? The draft is about trying to find good players, but you never know if your picks will pan out. Doesn't make sense to give up proven guys like that. Trading Taylor wouldn't make sense for the Dolphins' salary cap either. This one is just a crazy rumor.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

why trade him at all? he's been fairly productive for a #2 receiver, and could definitely contribute this season. if we can't get what we think he's worth, then keep him and play him. he's in a contract year, and if he leaves next offseason, but does well this year, then it won't be a total waste.

i have a feeling he'll be part of a package to move up if we do...

Re: Any news on Gardner?

I wouldn't go so far as to say fairly productive. Maybe productive half the time and terrible the other half.

Someone should come up with a nickname about those stats.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

I'm sure he'll get dealt tomorrow. Hopefully we can pick up a 3rd rounder for him.......hell I'd even take a 4th rounder now since all we do now is give our picks away to Denver.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

I actually heard rumors of J.Taylor as part of the trade for our 9th, 25th, & Gardner. We would get the 2nd pick & Taylor. The reason for this is the belief that Taylor will not fit the 3-4 Defensive system that Saban wants to run. Also dumping the salary helps to sign multiple draft picks. With that said it could still be a far fetched rumor with no basis in fact. Would be nice though.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

Let me offer some assistance here if I may:

Any news on Gardner?

Yes there is. No other team in the NFL wants him bad enough to offer the Skins a 3rd round pick for him. In fact, I'd be surpriseed to learn that they had a concrete offer of a 4th rounder for Gardner.

Any news on Gardner?

Yes there is: Gardner has a contract that is not a cap-buster next year but this is the last year of his deal. So to trade him, the Skins need to find a team willing to give them something (a draft pick) in exchange for a WR who will be a free agent at the end of next year. That other team has to think that Gardner will have a really big year for them and that really big year will put the new team over the top. What evidence is there that Gardner will EVER have a big year?

Any news on Gardner?

Yes there is: The Redskins FO overplayed their hand once again in this little opera. Instead of giving Gardner's agent the hammer in trying to arrange a trade, the Skins should have tried to swing a deal for Gardner themselves - taking less a for him because of the uncertainty of his contract status or willingness to do an extension this year - and moved on. Problem now is that everyone in the league knows that the Skins really don't want Gardner in the same zip code with the rest of the team and so they aren't lining up to make a splashy offer to get him to another city.

BTW, someone suggested trading Moss. Let me tell you why that isn't going to happen unless Moss is caught molesting one of Joe Gibbs' household pets. Santana Moss is what the Redskins FO managed to get for the less than effective way they handled the LC fiasco. If they give him away too, then they have nothing to show for that brilliant piece of personnel strategy - - except of course for the $8M cap hit in terms of dead money this year.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

If this rumor turns out true I shall stop believing in Redskins and the organization. My faith in Joe Gibbs will be gone. How long are we gonna keep on giving our future to other teams for players at the fag end of their carrers. We should have kept Coles happy and handled that situation better. Even if he wanted to go we should have gotten Jets 1st & 2nd round pick and not some punk WR who is injured half the time. I hope his contract is incentive ladden and is cap friendly, 'cause he is very inconsistent.
I HOPE TO GOD WE DONT TRADE OUR 2 PICKS FOR THE 1ST OVERALL PICK SO WE CAN GET EDWARDS!! C'mon he is just a college player who may or maynot turn out to be great. It is not as if we are getting TO in his prime or an elite WR in his prime. We had one but look where is now.
For Christ sakes will somebody tell Cerrato to get his lazy eye and while he is at it maybe get his brain fixed. THE FO DISGUSTS ME!! I don't understand why these guys had to spent a couple of hours talking about all the rumours that were circulating about the 9th pick and Campbell situation. I just hope we don't draft him. We already have a QB who needs this organization to be behind him and not treat him like a door mat to be treaded upon whenever they desire. U give young QB's confidence and time to develop. PR was never given his due and he of all the people deserves it!!
GET SOME SANITY!! PICK A CB and maybe a DE or WR!!
I'm done ranting

Amen to that. Getting a third rounder would mean we bamboozled somebody.

Re: Any news on Gardner?

If it came down to it, I would trade Gardiner for a 7th round pick, and if we can't even get that, then I would just cut him after the June cuts.

That is how little I think of 50/50.
