Re: Brian Baldinger???
I like him better on Playbook than in the booth. On playbook they have more time to break down and analize what they'll be talking about.
A game is more "fluid", if you will. Tape helps you talk about the teams playing, but you really have to be in the moment and be able to analize to be a good commentator. I think he's better at breaking down film. |

Re: Brian Baldinger???
FOX is hurting for Color guys. Unless you get Aikman with Joe Buck, they all sound dumb. I provide better color in my own house with my Dad and I watching the games together than most of these guys.

Re: Brian Baldinger???
Anyone who follows a team very closely is usually going to have a problem with the broadcasters. They are just not as tuned into the team as someone who follows the team daily. Some of them hide it better than others, but for the most part they don't know what they are talking about. They can break down what happened on a play, but when they start talking about specifics of the team and what's happening this season overall they tend to get exposed. They can get away with that overall though since most of the audience is a casual fan or indifferent alltogether.

Re: Brian Baldinger???
Baldinger went to Duke and walked on to the football team, was undrafted and basically walked on to the cowboys. I know him to be a bright and articulate guy, despite the Maas-like things he says during games.

Re: Brian Baldinger???
This Guy Is A Complete Jerk...i've Seen Him Do Alot Of Redskin Games And He Always Seems To Agree With The Refs Calls When They Go Against The 'skins, And When The Call Goes In The Redskins Favor He Seems To Use His "bullshit Logic" To Say The Refs Made A Mistake. For Example: In The Rams Game He Didn't Seem To Mind When The Rams Db' Where Forcing/pushing The 'skins Receivers Out Of Bounds, But When He Thought The 'skins Did It Once, He Said It Was A "bad No-call". I Have A Question? How Many Times Did He Mention That The Rams Qb Went To Harvard? By My Count...over 20. What An Asshole!!!!

Re: Brian Baldinger???
a couple of weeks ago i was listening to a sports radio show, 670 the score in Chicago. And Balldinger and Maas were the topic of conversation. they actually got Maas on the phone and asked him if he was aware of the criticism that he and others like him faced because of the way the try to imitate Madden, etc. It was pretty hillarious. Anyway, I'll give Maas credit for taking the question. His response was basically 'yes he is aware of the criticism but this is how his bosses at Fox have asked him to call the games and he kind of has to stick to the script'. So, if he's telling the truth than his bosses at Fox are bigger idiots than he and Balldinger

Re: Brian Baldinger???
sorry if someone has already said this but with the crappy color commentary duo's the skins games get stuck with, I wish I had the option of just having the gameplay and crowd sound on and have the talk turned off or u had the option of cycling through the commentary groups and picking the one u'd like to listen to.
