Howard Stern Sirius Debut
Anyone else here listen to him today? The Pat O'brien tapes uncensored were really funny.

Is George Takei really part of the show now?

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
Takei will be a permanent fixture...just won't be in the studio after this week.
http://blogs.phillyburbs.com/blog.php?p=3599&cat=10 I didn't catch Howard, but I caught Bubba the Love Sponge on my way home last night. I just hope it was first day jitters after a 2 year layoff...it was pretty boring.

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
I use the FM mod, and it's fine. I started out using the cassette tape adapter (95 Taurus, still have the factory stereo in it), but all those damn wires was a pain, so i went to the FM mod and it's fine. Once you find a channel to use, it's all good. The biggest pain I have (theory) is the antenna in port is messed up, because I constantly get Antenna Not Detected without doing anything to it...not sure if it's the antenna itself or the unit.

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
Actually Stern and Bubba are going to experiment switching mornings and afternoons in the coming months for a few days at a time. Hearing Stern in the afternoon will weird, but hell the debut was really good and today was even better. Matty, GET SIRIUS, its worth it!

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
I 2nd getting Sirius...i've had it for a few months, and will never be without. even in the DC area, there is little to nothing radio-wise. Think of it this way...what's 13/month, but a lunch or 2 you pack instead of buy out...or go without 3 lattes from Starbucks, etc.

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
How is the reception using the built in FM transmitter some of the radios come with?
I briefly used a wireless transmitter with my ipod and it was horrible. I ended up getting a hard wire connection for it. |

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
I have XM and use the FM transmitter and it seems to work well(I would assume they work similarly in Sirius receivers). Of course sound degradation is inevitable when you're broadcasting like that and the one thing that is actually an issue is when traveling over the span of different radio markets you get interference as your chosen FM channel may pick up a stronger FM signal from and actual broadcasting station. Then you have to switch your broadcast signal and change channels on your stereo. It can be a pain. Getting a new enabled head unit hard wired can be expensive too. I think we were quoted 400+ for the new unit plus harnesses and installation. That was without it getting wired into the steering wheel as we would have wanted too. We have a BMW though so I think it is a little more expensive since the stereos in BMWs are run through an amp standard out of the factory and this would have to be changed with a new head unit.

Re: Howard Stern Sirius Debut
I use the FM modulation and don't have a problem. I love it! Nothing better than uncensored radio where people can speak their minds on any subject imaginable.
