Offseason Moves (Merged Thread)
Brunell had a fine year. He isn't going to win us a Super Bowl, but I think he did a hell of a job this year! The question is who gets the first snap opening day?

Re: Who is our starting QB?
I don't even think Ramsey will be here next year, he'll probably ask for a trade considering how everyone lost faith in him after one game. But anything can happen. Either way, Brunell starts. If Ramsey leaves, Campbell might move up to second string?
...Unless we get some star quarterback off of waivers or something. Highly doubtful though. |

Re: Who is our starting QB?
2006-2007 starts the same as 2005-2006 ended!
1. Brunnell 2. P.Ram 3. Campbell

Re: Future Personnel/Team Moves (Merged Thread)
I agree with many of those moves.
What about a new kicker? Hall just doesn't have it anymore. I knew from watching him in warmups he was going to be ineffective. |

Re: Who is our starting QB?
Brunell is our starter. Today we found out just how bad we miss Randy Thomas. Ray Brown can't get it don't and Raymer won't be back next year. Portis could not get any holes and with only Moss and Cooley "in the pattern" Brunnel did not have enough options.

Re: Future Personnel/Team Moves (Merged Thread)
1. #1 priority has to be a 2nd WR who can move the chains and make the occasional big play. David Givens, Brandon Lloyd, Quincy Morgan someone who won't cost much in $$ or picks.. Jacobs, Farris and Thrash are gone, Patten is a suitable #3..
2. Develop Jason Campbell.. The Redskins got extremely lucky with Brunell's health this season and likely won't be as fortunate again. Ramsey will be somewhere else next year (sorry Ramsey fans but he's gone) so we need Campbell to be ready to come in and at least manage the game and make plays when neccesary. We gave up a #1 pick for him so he needs to make good on it. 2. Pass rushing DE/3rd Corner.. Daniels came on late, but for most of the season he was a non factor rushing the passer.. Walt Harris was exposed as Elvis 'Toast' Patterson 2005 so he needs to get somewhere.. Time maybe for Ade to become the nickel corner or draft/develop someone for that role.. 3. Build OL depth.. Ray Brown played well, but at 42 it was clear he was not suited for extended playing time. Raymer was done the last time he was a Redskin, Wilson and Molinaro haven't developed as hoped. 4. Re-sign Betts long term.. It's clear that he is an integral part of the running game and with a continued reliance on Portis we need him to spell Portis to keep him fresh and healthy. 5. Continue to develop the offense.. It took 5-6 weeks for it to open up but it still regressed in the playoffs. Next year should be a return to glory for Gibbs in his 3rd and likely final season as he has 2 full seasons to know the league and build his game plans accordingly..

Re: Who is our starting QB?
Brunell probably deserves to get a few more starts. Give him better protection and a few more passing options and our offense might be complete. Maybe with more options, our offense will become more aggressive. I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Re: Future Personnel/Team Moves (Merged Thread)
I'm pretty sure Raymer will be cut. He's old and slow. Why did we pick him back up? He was with San Diego there for awhile.
Start searching the market and the draft now for a strong, fast #2 WR, we've got a big hole there. |

Re: Future Personnel/Team Moves (Merged Thread)
I don't agree at all. Brunell can't take us all the way and he isn't getting any younger! You really want him running this team in next years playoffs? That's not going to work IMO. The great dilema is can Ramsey or Campbell take this very good team and make them great? I say Ramsey. Or Campbell?

Re: Brunell & Other Offseason Moves (Merged Thread)
I like many other fans love when preseason games start normally just to see the skins playing again, but this year I think there will be a lot more interest for once in how our backups play because I believe they will be lead by Campbell. His play in the preseaon will tell us a lot about the teams direction in the near future. Ramsey will get us a decent 3-4rd draft pick or possibly even a player for player swap. Wr is a position that must be addressed for a big bodied, decently speedy 3rd wr who has the ability to step up as a 2wr type threat when needed. O-line will have some back up adjustments with the likely cut of Raymer and the impending retirement of Brown. There's also the possibility of letting Harris go and get some new younger cbs in the fold, but the depth of the rest of our secondary is pretty solid. A consistent young de who can play the run and get push off the edge agains the pass at times would also be nice. And we need a new kicker like Conor Hughes out of UVA or Stephen Gostkowski of Memphis or hope Brandon Coutu of Georgia comes out early. None of these are the dramatic additions we've grown used to in recent seasons but these small adjustments could pay huge dividends next season if they get the right people into these positions of need.

Re: Future Personnel/Team Moves (Merged Thread)
Here's my off season wish list - in order:
1. We keep Lavar Arrington. 2. We get TWO decent back-up offensive linemen because Brown and Raymer will both be gone. 3. We get a starting WR and good third WR. 4. We get a good spare CB, not to take anything away from Ade... |
