Top 5 Free Agent Signings / Bust By The Redskins All Time

Top 5 Best Signings.
1.Marcus Washington = Pro bowl player last season, Should have been this season.
2. Ken Harvey = I belive he went to 4 pro bowls. Last Redskin to lead NFL in sacks. Made the NFL all 90's team.
3. Henry Ellard = Surprised everyone. Thought to be washed up, He put up big numbers.
4. Terry Allen = Put up big numbers on bad teams. Same as Ellard.
5. L.Centers = A threat as recevier playing fullback. Shouls have not been released.

Top 5 bad signings.
1. D. Stubbledfield = Defensive player of the year, Then we sign him. Did NOTHING for this team but still money.
2. D.Sanders = Washed up, Got big money, only here for 1 season.
3. A.Harper = A bust for the Skins and Bucs.
4. J.Trotter = Makes pro bowl with Eagle, Signs with the Skins, Does nothing. Signs with Eagles and goes back to pro bowl.
5. J.Goerge = Goes without saying.

I'd also have to put Ernst Byner on the BEST LIST over your bottom 3...he was consistent for us for the most of the time he was here and helped us win a SB and is now back coaching for us.

I would add Cornilus Griffin to the Best List also, he should have ben a pro-bowler last year, and if he would have stayed healthy for this season I believe that he could have ben a pro-bowler for us this year also...

I would have to give Griffin one more year to put him in the top 5.

I think Sellers has to go on the top 5 list - he's clutch!

Stanley Richard had to be the biggest of them all, he did absolutley nothing with the Chargers and for the life of me I can't see what they saw in him. Runner up for me was James Washington from the Cowboys. Another POS.

I don't know if I would add Dan Wilkinson to that list. While he wasn't the player we expected, he didn't exactly live up to expectations in Cincinnati, either. So I'm not sure what we as fans were hoping for in Washington. That said, he wasn't a complete bust, and he wound up staying for several seasons as a solid, if unspectacular contributor. He wasn't a superstar, but if you remember our run-stopping abilities in the 1997 season, it was certainly an improvement. I can think of other free agent busts who were worse ...

Remember Al Noga? Donovan Greer? Jacquez Green?

Wilkenson was traded for. As for trades, The 2 1st round picks we got for sean gilbert from the panthers worked out well.

If we're talking about free agents, Byner can't be on the list, he was aquired through a trade.

Re: Top 5 Free Agent Signings / Bust By The Redskins All Time

If we want to talk about the best trades the Skins have made, Byner would be very close to the top of the list. He was traded for the legendary Mike Oliphant. I think the Browns are still smarting over that genius of a deal.

Quote:
Despite being primarily remembered for "The Fumble," Byner actually went on to have an extremely successful career after the 1987 season when it happened. After spending another year with the Browns, he was traded to the Washington Redskins prior to the start of 1989 season, for running back Mike Oliphant. In his 5 seasons with Washington, Byner was selected to play in the Pro Bowl twice (1990, 1991) and won a Super Bowl ring with the team in in the 1991 season. In that season's Super Bowl XXVI, in 1992, he caught a touchdown pass in the first quarter, and the Redskins won, giving him the World Championship he could not win with the Browns.
