Best Safety in the League???
As much as I love Sean Taylor, i still have to believe Ed Reed is the best. I know he had a bad season for a variety of reasons, but why is everyone on the Troy Polamalu boat so quickly? It seems like every year there's a new
"best" at a position in the league...it drives me CRAZY!!!! |

Re: Best Safety in the League???
I will take Taylor over all of them, he can do more combined than either one of the other 2, I will say Polomolu is more productive though, but that is in part to the system he plays in, as well as what he's asked to do. Taylor is as fast or faster than both of them, and he hits twice as hard, and we all know he has big time big play ability, it's not a knock on those 2 they are tremendous, but if I had to pick 1 I wouldn't have to think twice. Now if Taylor goes to jail it's a tough call, but probably troy would get the nod.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
I'll take Taylor anyday of the week. (with or without a loogie)
I still remember JJ Arrington laying down like a girl before Taylor laid a pretty mild hit on him. The thing that impresses the most about Taylor is the way he closes in the ball while it's in the air. - Amazing |

I will take the hit he put on that cowboy reciever in the first game when he seperated him from the ball and it went about 15 yards in the other direction!

Re: Best Safety in the League???
Taylor is good but he isn't great yet. He can't read offense that well yet and is susceptible to getting beat on the deep ball.

Now that he has 2 do more coverage he's shown some flaws right now Ed reed for me is the more complete Safety Polamalu benefits for the defense they played but he has shown a lot of upsite. |

He has only been in the league two years. I don't know how you can compare Polmolive, Dawkins, Ed Reed etc.... Fast forward five years and he will be the prototype. |

If we're talking the future, Taylor no doubt. Right now give me Mike Brown.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
If Taylor can stay out of the slammer, He will become one of the best ever. He could be up there with Ronnie Lott one day. Will just have to wait and see. I would take a free take S.T all day long.

Ed Reed because he is an amazing player who has almost no flaws in his game. He also is a beast on special teams with a shitload of punt and kick blocks. He's will also probably break the record for most defensive touchdowns by one player.

Re: Best Safety in the League???
Dan Patrick interviewed Chad Johnson on ESPN Radio the Thurs or Fri before the Super Bowl and asked who are the best defensive backs. For safeties, Johnson said Chris Hope (the "other" Steeler safety) and Ed Reed of the Ravens were the two best.
Johnson also called out Champ Bailey as the best cornerback by far. |
