Is it just free agency, or the deadline to get under the cap, or both? I can't take another 3 days of waiting (although I'd do it if the CBA gets extended).

Why would the league do this unless a deal still might get done? The teams were already prepared to cut certain people in the event the CBA didn't get extended.

both. I think you must be under the cap when free agency starts. We have a plan so we might as well cut everyone tonight when we find out it didn't get done.

Re: Free Agency pushed back 3 days

Sounds like what they're doing is pushing back the start of the fiscal year another 3 days. If this is the case, then anything that was to have happened by the start of the new fiscal year will need to occur by the new date.

I doubt they're only pushing back one thing, because they're all tied together.

Where did you hear that? Because I read an article somewhere that the cut deadline would be Sunday night at 10pm.

Are you sure?

I don't understand the point of it, if true.

Per ESPN, the salary cap deadline is pushed back 3 days:

Re: Free Agency pushed back 3 days

No cuts tonight, 3 more days to negotiate a deal. I'm feeling a lot better about this, I think some poker is being played, and in the end things will get done.

Re: Free Agency pushed back 3 days

i heard cut time is still tonight and the skins will say something sometime after 9pm (from sportstalk 980).

i'd guess the 3 days is for the league to process the paperwork and agents to figure out what the game plan is.

You might be right, but that would be really strange.
