Redskins facing cap penalties

Redskins | Team facing salary cap penalties
Sun, 5 Mar 2006 09:14:08 -0800

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/162">Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the Washington Redskins might not be able to get under the salary cap of $94.5 million for the 2006 season. Several owners believe the Redskins will not be able to get under $98 million because of all the amortization left on signing bonuses. The club faces a fine and/or forfeiture of draft picks. A group of small-market owners are watching to see how NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue might punish them.

he obviously didn't do the math, its possible and with the restructures it might not even be that big a deal.

I'm sure that a Cincinnati reporter is on top of the Redskins cap situation... yawn...

The Bengals are keenly interested in everything we do because with revenue sharing, they will essentially become stockholders in the Redskins. We can pile some more money on their already huge profit margin. The fact that their people are badmouthing us to the local press is an extreme insult.

Re: Redskins facing cap penalties

Everyone wants to jump on the 'Redskins are doomed' bandwagon and it's not like we have even won anything recently. I mean who do they think we are, the Patriots?

When Dan and Vinny signed Jeff George, Deon Sanders, Jerimiah Trotter, Dana Stubblefield, etc. they got exactly the punishment they deserved - Jeff George, Deon Sanders, Jerimiah Trotter, Dana Stubblefield etc. Get over it already!

If they postpone this deadline one more time I'm gonna kirk out.

Re: Redskins facing cap penalties

This report is as wrong as the day is long. The Skins will be cap compliant without a problem. This reporter probably doesn't realize that Brunell, Portis, Springs, Thomas, Jansen, and Wynn have all agreed to various restructures that save a decent amount of cap room. And he obviously didn't know about the Lavar move. Once we cut the bums (Bowen, Harris, Noble, Raymer, etc) we'll be compliant.

Re: Redskins facing cap penalties

Maybe those "observers" aren't as smart as the Redskins. Yes, I said it. Mr. Snyder has been getting smarter and smarter abour running the franchise ever sense I figure out that he should get football guys to develop the on field product while he manages the business side, which he does very well.

So, Snyder, Cerrato & company figure out how to use their $$$ resources to land talent withing the confines of the old CBA and the small market/small minded teams want to negotiate that away. Things that make you go hmmm.
