Appearing Today Billy Kilmer

From four to six Bill Kilmer will be appearing in Norfolk Va. at Tidewater Sports and Collectibles and I just thought a few of you in the area may have just wanted to know. He will be signing autographs for $25.00 and here is a link.

Re: Appearing Today Billy Kilmer

I've met Billy Kilmer and he was great to talk to. I did pay for his autograph and the chance to talk a couple minutes of football with him, sonny and d. green.

To me, money well spent. You can buy "stuff" anytime. Talking with real "greats" is not always free but what worth anything is?

peace

Billy Kilmer is probably the first Redskin I have a concious memory of. I think he is underrated. His record as a Redskin starter is like 51-26 which is pretty darn good. I would pay the money if I could get a picture and chat for a moment.

Re: Appearing Today Billy Kilmer

It was 2 years ago and he looked great.
My guess is if he threw a ball it would be just as wobbly.

Great guy with an awesome harty laugh. A true Skin thru and thru.

Sonny was great too.

D. Green was a dillhole and I lost respect for him that day and have not been a fan since. "snotty"

peace

I've heard one other guy say less than glowing things about Darell. It's a real kick in the teeth. It's kind of disorienting to hear because of the image that I have of him. I discounted it before, but now I have to wonder. Will the real #28 please stand up?

Re: Appearing Today Billy Kilmer

Please don't judge #28 on my 10 minutes with him when he gave his all on the field for the Redskins for 20+ years.

There are many Redskins to be a fan of and my only point is he is only "numbers" to me and as a fan I thank him for that. But, I won't invite him to any parties.
lol

Hail Skins!

Re: Appearing Today Billy Kilmer

I've met DG several times, and worked with him. Total a**hole as I've recounted on this board before.

But that doesn't take away from the 20+ years of wonderful memories he brought to Redskins fans as a player. I'll always be grateful to him for that.

I've been to countless training camps up in Frostburg and Carlisle during the last 10 years.. many times in the middle of the work week when there would only be 20-30 fans watching practice. Afterward he would be the only person not to even wave. Star players, coaches, scrubs.. all taking a few minutes to shake hands scribble an autograph, take a picture. Darrell Green would just jog past EVERYTIME.. and if you are lucky to see him interact with fans, its a joke. You have to PAY him to make contact with him.. or give 6 figures+ to his foundation.

The only time I saw him actually be cool with the fans was after his last game after beating the cowboys at the end of the year. I sat there and watched him circle the whole stadium and actually enjoy himself.

One year at training camp he setup a fundraiser after a practice and sold $25 dollar LAME tshirts for his charity. The deal was that if you bought a tshirt you could get one autograph OR one picture. So my buddy buys this shirt for his son against my recommendation.. He waits for 20 minutes in line.. finally darrell green decides to show up... signs maybe 10 peoples shirts.. takes a picture or 2.. then BOLTS into a waiting SUV. The marketing gal tells my friend that he'll be back in 15 minutes.. an hour later they start disassembling the tent and tell the remaining 20 or so people to flip off..

On the field Darrell Green was the best.. PERIOD.
bless his heart for all of his charity work too..

in person he is simply NOT cool..

Here are a couple of my DG anecdotes, for those that haven't heard them. By the way, I wonder how these would fly on the "official Redskins message board" Anyhow, when I was working at a local tv station I was told DG had a rule-all interviews with and profiles on him must include at least 30 seconds of talk about his charity, and anytime we interviewed another player about his charity work we had to also talk about Green's charity work. This is one of the reasons he was resented in the locker room, according to some other players I asked. One time we wanted to do a story about Brian Mitchell's charity work on Thanksgiving. Everything was in place and then we got a call from the Redskins "This doesn't air unless you profile Darrell Green's charity work as well" It never aired. There were a lot of players who did charity work that no one ever knew about for that reason. One time one of our reporters chose to go ahead and air a piece on another player without mentioning Green, it put us in the Redskins doghouse for the whole season.

Another time Darrell Green was in our studio and one of my co-workers came in to the studio with his 6-year old grandson and asked Green if he would sign his grandson's football. Darrell said "No, what's in it for me?" So I was there and said "the satisfaction of making a young kid happy" And he actually said "that's not good enough"

It always sucks to meet your hero and find out they're human.
