Robert Johnson at TE

There's a video interview with TE Robert Johnson up on skins.com.

He seems like a pretty confident and funny guy--and, needless to say, he's super happy to have a chance to play in Saunders offense, He says he's been joking with Cooley about who's going to catch more passes, etc.

Wonder if this guy can step up. It may be part of the reason they let Royal go (I think Buf overpayed, but still...). He's a BBall guy (6'7"), 275, and fast. He's an Auburn guy, so he fits in well. I'd love it if he is able to produce.

I'd love to see him step up. I saw him catch maybe one pass last year, but with a body that size, it would be nice to see him worked in more.

I saw him catch one pass too. All I saw was this giant catch a pass for a first down breaking two tackles flattening one guy ( I believe a linebacker ). As soon as I found out who he was he was in IR. I would like to see alot more of him this year.

Re: Robert Johnson at TE

i think johnson has ability but might be on the short end of the stick with the skins because of 2 pass catching tight ends

I agree, I was a bit sad during that interview, bc I do not think he will get too much playing time. Unless we run triple-TE formations, we are in a blowout, someone gets injuried, or we run a few select down plays with him, Johnson wont be seeing too much playing time.

Re: Robert Johnson at TE

he should be solid... at 275 blocking shouldn't be a problem, and he's a big target.

I hope he turns out to be great for us just so I can see that nickname printed on a ghetto t-shirt being sold outside of FedEx.

That would be awesome, but those old school redneck shirts already have the copyrighted.

Re: Robert Johnson at TE

Won't the depth be Fauria and Johnson at TE and Cooley at H-Back? Who else have we got for the 3rd TE slot?

He should get playing time in goalline - 275 lbs!

I don't think Al Saunders will use a H-Back in his system. Cooley will be the starting TE if that is how it goes.

I'm sure he will keep the H around. We don't have a true fullback, and even with our logjam at WR, I don't think our base package will be 3 WR.

This is a good point, but speculation at this point. Will be interesting to see just how the offense is designed, will it be Gibbs' w/Saunders tweaking & calling plays, or a total Saunders overhaul?
Johnson is a solid blocker, I think he stands a good chance at making the roster as the 2nd TE, but that depends if we draft someone.
