Houston, you have a problem.
ESPN.com - NFL - Houston has a problem? Portis likely to face Texans
Sorry if someone posted this already, but I didn't realize CP completed a full practice with no problems. Looks like he is aready to go, and is "probable" on the injury report. We know that Houston has a soft D, I really hope we just pound the ball at them with CP/Betts/Duckett, then work the playaction and get Brunell comfortable throwing the deep ball again. Let's hope we can dominate this game on both sides of the ball and use it as a big confidence booster. Oh and I saw Rock Cartright last night at a Redskins event in Virginia, crowd response was pretty awesome. |

Re: Houston, you have a problem.
Having such a dynamic play-maker back is going to be a big boost for our offense. This will will result in more time on the field for the O and less for the D. Now the D can take a moment longer to analyze strengths and weaknesses as the game progresses. Hopefully, we'll see more turnovers as a result which gives the O more reps. I see this as a sort of regenerating feedback loop.
I am now officially pumped for this weeks game!

I'm intrested to see that if our O can hold on to the ball for some long drives will that help our D.

I want to see the following mix of passing/running:
1%/99% All Portis, all day.

You really want to see that much passing?

Only if it's one of those little WR screens to Moss!

I don't want to overwork CP either though, I'd like to see a 50% CP 25% LB 25% TJD split or something of that nature. If Portis reinjures himself we will be even more screwed down the road.

Re: Houston, you have a problem.
I really think we need to get back to basics. Enough with the motions and fancy sets. Let's get back to what carried us to the playoffs last year.
Good old power football. Ram it right down their throats. Enough with all the off tackle runs, I want to see us slamming it right up the middle. That's the only way we're going to turn this around. This OL is built for smashmouth, so let's get it on! |

As far as passing, I think Brunell needs to throw the ball a signifigant number of times, to either work out the kinks in his execution, or prove to everyone that he can't run the offense. |

The Key is Portis. He is the best player in the NFC East. He is probably the 8th best player in the entire League. You notice when he is gone. One last thing about Favre. He has to say he isn't interested in a trade. He doesn't have any options. Look at Steve McNair, he had to hang on and on in Tennessee so he doesn't look like the bad guy and the organization can say we tried and now we need to Reload. Favre would work in Washington. Who else has the stature as an organization to appeal to him. Who else has a defense good enough to make a Run. Who else has all those factors and offensive weapons that Favre would love to have. When I heard Favre say he didn't want a trade, it sounded like the vote of confidence that a GM give the coach before firing him. Favre has to play the good guy, the Packer forever, it makes him easier to deal in the end....

If Favre has people to hand off to, to pass to, and a Coach who he would have to respect, he won't be heaving up those no-hopers we have seen lately.

Panthers cant win without Steve Smith.
Skins cant win without Portis? ANY team should be able to win missing one guy.I dont give a damn who it is. |

Missing one player can hurt that much. That's why they're superstars. They're that important. |
