Redskins v. Giants: Goat of the Week?
Here are my goats of the week:
1. The offensive line, particularly Jon Jansen (who IMHO is overrated), could not give Brunell time. 2. Brunell can make plays when offered time, but when he's hurried he looks like a backup. 3. The entire defense. 4. Joe Gibbs, yup Gibbs himself is a nominee for goat of the week. Okay, it's not entirely fair to nominate him for goat of the week, but what was he thinking at the end of the 3rd quarter, when we were down by two touchdowns, when he decided to kick a field goal on 4th and 1? |

The entire team and coaches. I'm not going to point any fingers at any individuals because I think we stunk across the board. You win as a team and lose as one, and today was definitely a team effort for that loss.

Agreed. That was an ugly and lackluster game across the board. Very disappointing.

If I have to listen to Brunell bashing all week I think I'm going to puke. If you can honestly say that he was the main reason for that loss I'm sorry that's just a very ignorant view.

Re: Redskins v. Giants: Goat of the Week?
I think I have to disagree. Whenever another team makes an offense look like that it always starts with the QB plain and simple. He is too easy to scheme against and 3 times out of 5 this year that's exactly what has happened. I won't say anything else bad about Brunell this week but he is making me crazy. And yes that sure was a team loss of course.

You won't have to listen to Brunell bashing because everyone will have too tough of a time identifying whom to bash. Offense, defense, Hall (please bring in competition), coaching. Everything was bad this week. That's why we're 0-3 vs. the NFC and 0-2 in the NFC East. We're a sub-.500 team, like it or not.

If the team has no inspiration who is going to light a fire under them? You could say coaches but these assholes collectively make 100 million plus per year, they should be accountable. The coaches can't make a big pass or escape the pocket after having 7 seconds or more. Who the hell else should we blame? |

It's getting really old. Team loses, bash Brunell. Team wins, the haters are quiet, mostly. |

You are right, benching him is not the answer. This is a question with many parts. |

Brunell is just one piece of what was a team wide problem today. He doesn't deserve to be singled out today. |

However, Brunell, like much of the rest of the team, has been very inconsistent. Brunell has shown the ability to play very, very well when given time and open receivers. Brunell has also shown an inability to make plays when under pressure. He simply is not good enough to make up for deficiencies in other areas on the team. Given that he is the QB, one of if not THE most important player on the team, it should come as no surprise that he gets a lot of the flak when the entire team plays poorly. Right now, Brunell is the best option we have by a long shot. Let's just hope he can turn this thing around because we all know that if he can't our team is sunk. It would be a big shame if we can't field a good team with the kind of weapons we have on offense. |

sorry. it's not all brunell, but he didn't help us with anything today. 1. defense (coverage, playcalling - GW knows he can't get coverage, so instead of blitzing and hoping for the best (turn overs), he sits in prevent type defensive and watches yardage get chewed up... i know the blitzes were mainly picked up, but i mean, change it up, do something, please, just please stop playing like crap). 2. offensive playcalling (predictable, not well suited for dealing with fast/capable DEs and fast DTs, one deep throw all day) 3. brunell - sorry, but even including the above two, that's just not a good job. he wasn't skipping balls, but he did get unnecessarily anxious once again because of the hint of pressure, and that seems to account for all the jekyll and hyde we've seen. he's WAY to quick to put eyes on pressure. like kurt warner, his poise is gone. |
