National Review Online - Greg Norman
Geoffrey Norman on Redskins on National Review Online
The Washington Redskins have the week off, and this is bad news for many football fans. The ’Skins are losing, and looking like genuine losers when they do it, which gives millions whose hearts are in the heartland a sense of nearly lascivious pleasure. We’d like to see more of it; can’t, in fact, get enough of it. We loved it, weekend-before-last, when the Redskins were whipped at home by the Tennessee Titans — one of the league’s weaker teams — and their rookie quarterback, Vince Young. Mods/Admin, please move to Newswire. We are officially the laughinstock of the NFL and any media that's still interested. |

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
At this point why fight it? The guy said we got whipped at home by the Titans. That's not the proper use of the term whipped at all in my book. People should point and laugh at this team. They are all plenty rich and I'm sure could care less what non-Redskin fans think right now so why should we?

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
So is this supposed to be an editoral piece or real reporting, because I really can't tell.
I've save you time by summing him up for you: This guy is just a complete a$$hole and I can't believe I just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading him. He basically just trashes the team and Danny Boy because the team spends a lot (still under the salary cap) and has done much. He basically says we're all idiots for liking the team and that all of middle America hates everyone who lives in DC. He brings up Snyder's buisness deal with Tom Cruise for some reason because, I guess, he thinks an NFL owner must only focus on his team and can't do other things. He doesn't mention our great run last year, but I suspect that if he did he would either say we bought that good season or that we should have gone farther in the playoffs. I sort of trailed off half way through. He might be the worst "sports writer" I've ever read. Take that Peter King!

Wow, that guy is a total asshole though. I can't argue with a lot, but he REALLY hates the Redskins.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
And he acts like the Redskins are the freaking Yankees. The reason people hate the Yankees is because they buy the best player each year and do "some" winning. I mean, how can you hate a team coached by Joe Gibbs? It's not like he's Bill Parcells with TO on the same team. I'm sure media figures love the Skins losing because of Snyder, but for a group of legitimate good people, I would think the Skins would rank right up there.
Would he be laughing and taking delight in the Saints losing all season?

I'd much rather have an owner like Snyder who actually goes out and gets talent to come here than someone like Ralph Wilson who couldn't care less about field a crappy team year in and year out. Snyder is still a relatively new owner who bought the team when it was down so it's going to take him some time before he really figures it all out. This guy really has me worked up. He really sucks.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
This is barely mentioned in the article but it's something I was thinking about the other day because I heard it mentioned elsewhere... Why are people still obsessed/pissed over the fact that Snyder made a buisness deal with Tom Cruise and invited him to a game?
Is it really that big of a deal that man is good at making money and is expanding into something like movie making? Should team owners drop everything else in their life and only focus on running the team? Should he sit by himself in the owners box and stare at the field like a mental patient for every game? I wish all these critics would give it a God damn rest! I have no idea why this annoys me so much but it really does.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
It annoys me too. If he was a PLAYER OR A COACH hired BY the team, it's one thing. Redskins owner is not a job. He delegates things out to the people he HIRES, let's them make decisions, and signs the checks.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
I mean he acts like Reggie Bush WASN'T the most hyped player coming out of college. I mean look at all the work Bush has done down in NO. Do you think he'd be laughing his douchebag head at them if they were 2-5? Damn, why don't you just TELL us which team you like.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
Not only that, Redskins fans are notorious for writing back to assholes like him. I think some people just like the attention that an inbox full of angry Redskins fans brings.

Re: National Review Online - Greg Norman
Where's his article about the Eagles and how their fans throw batteries and are generally known as the biggest assholes not just in the NFL, but in the entire world of sports. They freakin' beat up Santa, and after each loss, you'd THINK that someone like him would be like, "That's what those assholes get."
But no, we have fans with passion and stick with a team through the thick and thin.
