Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll

If the Redskins could get one and only one new starter in 2007, what position should it be (with no regard to salary cap or what players are available).

Basically, I don’t want you guys thinking about who is available or how much cap space we have. Just think about what position is our single most pressing need.

PS: These are only on-field positions, so GM doesn’t count

I voted first, I win. I said CB because Shawn Springs is getting up there in age and Carlos hasn't shown all that much improvement.

Based on Rogers' overall ineffectiveness and Springs' injuries and age, I'd say corner.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll

I said DE, without question.

I would give Carlos one more year before giving up on him. I think if this guy can focus on catching his stock will go way up. The entire defense has had it's woes. Springs? I don't think he's old as some would suggest. He's what, 31-32 yrs old...his issue is staying healthy, not age at this point.

We need a DE to help create some pressure up front. Have you noticed how the Bears and Ravens get so many turnovers? Their secondary isn't full of pro bowlers, but they get in the QBs face and force errors.

Need A DE opposite Carter who has come on of late. Springs looks very good when health. With him across from Rogers all year that would be solid. Need a Middle LB also!!

I agree ! If the qb does not have time to look for his 3rd option , or set his feet and get comfortable he will not be as effective , and that will lead to more 3rd and longs and more turnovers.

Ditto. We really need some thugs coming off the edges. I wish we could have drafted Merriman. That guy is a frickin monster. Just disrupting everything. Looks like the closest thing to LT.

I was between S and CB, I voted safety though cause they need someone to make Sean Taylor more comfortable back there so he can go make to making plays.

I think Rogers will cypher out the nature of the job............but as has been said, Springs isn't getting more healthy

That being said, I'll take a good DE over a replacement for Springs.

WE need a CB. Every team in the NFL throws deep on us... it's time to shut that down!

I agree, in case anyone has missed it we've been torched for big plays at an alarming rate this year. We desperately need help in the secondary. A corner that can catch an INT now and then would be a nice start.

Re: Bill B Presents TMC's Pick the Position Poll

I also said DE, for a couple of reasons.

1 -- because DB's don't need to be world beaters if they don't have to keep coverage on a play for 5-10 seconds.

2 -- because of simple math and physics. Even a small disturbance at the origin of an object's trajectory can cause a huge change, whereas often even large disturbances at the end can still be compensated for.

3 -- because DB's don't help that much in run support, either.

Good points. But my biggest thing is, the DE helps force those errors. I think we'd be surprised how much better our secondary would look with some help up front.

I don't care how good or fast you are, you can't cover an NFL receiver forever.
