I wrote Sammy Baugh a letter [asked about Gibbs]

To start thanks to72skins for kindly giving me Mr Sam Buagh's address in Rotan Texas. I wrote him a positive fan letter letting him know I think he is the greatest and that I had done much homework about him and collecting of him.

I asked him a few questions is all and I hope he answers me back. If he does it will be one of the most treasured piece of my collection. "A letter from Sling'N Sammy Baugh to me".

A couple of the questions I asked pertain to one of his teammates from 1943, 44 and 1946 a guy named Ted Lapka who wore #45 those year but whom I cannot find in 1945. I asked him what he knew about Ted Lapka and where he was in 1945 [my guess drafted at the end of WWII]

My final two questions I would love to know are:

What do you think of the Redskins today?
What do you think about the return of Coach Joe Gibbs?
I'll pass along any answer this wise ole football god has to say.

He is a picture I saw on ebay. Sammy is being tackled on the far right but look at the guy getting busted to his butt in the center. The picture is from the 1940 as they have the embroidered indian on the sleeve. Not sure who they are playing...yet.

Here is what Mr. Buagh looks like today in his early 90's doing what he does these days and that's sit home and sign stuff.

Anyone remember that great interview when Sonny J. when down to Texas to meet and talk with Sammy Baugh? That was GREAT and wish it would reair sometime.

When I meet Coach Gibbs again to give him and Washington Post photo of him with ME signed by myself and my son and framed I will give him something special of and about Sammy and ask that he contact Mr Baugh for a Redskin Tribute before he gets too old and passes away.

peace
mike
