HOF Game
Just a question on what everyone expects from the hall of fame game. Coach Gibbs said that was just treating this game as a scrimmage, and wasent really excited at the number of preseason games we have. With that being said, what type of playing time do you guys think our starters, more specificaly our Quarterbacks ( Brunell/ Ramsey ) to see.
Second Question: I have tickets from everyticket.com to the Skins game vs Tampa Bay. Does anyone know when I should expect them to come? Thanks |

I don't think we'll see much at all, in way of the starters playing much and also what offensive plays and packages we'll see.
The gameplan on both sides of the ball will be very vanilla. |

Maybe, but I don't think Gibbs would want to risk losing anyone important, especially Ramsey.
Timmy Hasselbeck anyone? |

Gibran Hamden anyone? =p
I bet you'll see a lot of our younger guys. I expect at least some playtime by our new big guns. Brunell, Washington, Taylor, Cooley, Portis Portis and Bailey will be flexing their muscles here. |

About the tickets - mine haven't come in the mail yet, so you've got a wait ahead of you.

i think it'll be like the other preseason games, he'll use very basic plays and just test out players he doesn't have much film on, as well as giving the 1st teamers some practice

I agree. Gibbs will still be feeling his way with his players. I think he probably has solid impressions of many guys from the minicamps, but he still needs to see guys in pads and in a game-like situation.
We should certainly not expect to see much of the actual playbook in the HOF game. Somewhat, yes, but Gibbs will not want to get much on film for the early regular season opponents to study. It's an advantage that he recognizes he will have early on, and he will want to capitalize on it for as long as he can. By midseason, the whole league will have an idea of what to expect. Hopefully, the Bucs won't have a clue in week 1. I'll be very happy with a fast start (though I do not expect one--just being realistic). BTW, I just joined up tonight, and am very happy to be here. I've been a veteran poster (and irrepressible Skins defender) over at the About.com football forums for about a year and a half. My screen name is the same over there. I used it here just in case some Skins fans recognize me. : ) |

I think Gibbs will use the preseason to get a good feel for his depth. Guys like Betts, McCants, Jacobs, etc., will get the chance to shine and show what they're made of.
Likewise for Bugel, I'm sure he'll be eager to see what his line depth looks like. |

Thanks for the welcome Matt. Hmm, no pun intended.
Excellent point about evaluating depth! I'm really pulling for Jacobs--the all-to-brief glimpse we had of him last year was too short, but still encouraging (I'm thinking of his over-the-shoulder TD catch v Dallas). Another guy I'm really pulling for is Robert Royal. There'll be some SERIOUS TC battles this year. I'm also pleased with the O-line depth. Checking the depth chart at Ourlad's the last couple of years was almost embarrassing. |
