Smoot is the best option for us. And this might be a blessing in disguise because he will be much cheaper than any of the CBs out there. Also if we spend less on CBs we might have more room, which equates to a higher possibility of resigning dock.

There are NOT a dozen players in the NFL worth a 15 mill $$ signing bonus , they can have him . they may have a good D this year ,,, but that is crazy $$$

I disagree that Clements isn't worth that. The salary cap has skyrocketed recently, so there should be several CBs who are worth more than what Champ got from the Broncos a few years ago.

If Champ were on the open market right now, he'd be worth a $35 million signing bonus.

If Peyton Manning were on the market right now, he'd be worth a $50 million signing bonus, at least.

That's the nature of a changing market. You have to adjust to new contract values quickly. It's not that Clements isn't worth that amount, it's that the guys we now have under contract are incredible bargains in comparison.

Yes the market is changing but regardless I don't think Clements is a true shutdown corner in the mold of Champ.

No he's not. True shutdown corners like Champ would get a lot more than $24 million up front.
