Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
Yahoo and other sources have been saying that the Skins are looking hard at left tackel L.Davis who played last season for Arizona. Is this as back up or can he be moved to Dockery's spot? What do you all think of this?

i cant imagi ne a solid left tackle would be cheaper than a solid left guard. in fact i know davis would be more than dock. might as well just keep dock then.

Good question. I think Dielman will command more money and probably deservedly so. But the gap won't be that big

Re: Leonard Davis will be in today
Jason Lacanfora reported that Davis will be in to Redskin Park today or Saturday. So there maybe more to this then meets the eye. He also said that the Cowgirls are making a strong run at him!

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
JLC just posted on washingtonpost.com
Posted at 1:00 PM ET, 03/ 2/2007 Leonard Davis - Updated, Second Time Looks like Leonard Davis could be in the house tonight when the Skins take their free agent entourage to the Wizards game. They want to bring him in; not sure if he is in Dallas first, but the Skins are pushing for him. Sounds like the Dockery thing is not panning out perhaps. Just got off the phone with someone very close to the situation. Davis in indeed in another city as we speak - Dallas I believe- but I heard there is a "75-80 percent" chance he could be in Washington soon. The Redskins are indeed his next free agent visit destination, if in fact he makes another trip. I hear his agents are talking to 4-5 teams and fielding lots of calls, so it's possible he signs with another team while still on this first visit. As for other O Line stuff. I hear nothing new between the Skins and Todd Wade lately and, considering what it would take to sign Dock or Davis, they probably won't be able to do much there. Dockery has been working out in Atlanta, and I was told he is currently in Buffalo. Again, not looking good for a re-sign there, but never say never with the Skins. Also, Ladell Betts said he has been told nothing about being dealt, but realizes some rumors persist. Said he speaks to his agents daily and they have never mentioned anything, but I also hear that the jets and Broncos have some serious interest in him. Stay tuned. |

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
This does make much sense to me. Like RedskinPete said before, would he move to guard or be a backup? Is it possible that they would ask Jansen to move inside?

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
If he[Jansen] did move in side I think he could do it. I sure wouldn't want to see him pulling my way as a LB or CB ! Still unlikely. That is two moves on the line and it's better to just keep Dockery or replace him!

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
Seems a little far-fetched to sign a LT to either start in a guard's spot or to provide depth, when we need so much on defense. At the same time maybe the coaching staff knows something that we don't. Keeping my fingers crossed that IF we do sign him, it doesn't blow up in our faces

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
I believe that Davis would move in to guard (he has past experience at the position). Looks to be a backup plan if dock can't be re-signed. Jansen would remain at tackle though.

Re: Is Leonard Davis going to be a Redskin?
Here is some more news out of Arizona on Davis.....It is being reported that Davis has been offered contracts from Cowboys,Giants and Redskins. He is leaning towards the Boys. But the Boys wanted him to move inside and his agent said Davis wouldn't be for that. The Giants are not that much in the mix because he would't like being under Tom C so that leaves the Skins. If he don't wanted to move inside why would the Redskins needed him except as back up?

We have no intentions of playing him at tackle. We're thinking of making him a G.
