Re: Texans Reportedly Close to Deal fo Schaub

Would be a GREAT choice for them. I wonder if they'll try to trade down and grab CJ.

The Texans or the Falcons?
I'm sure either team would love CJ, but I would think the Texans might feel like they have more pressing needs than another big, physical receiver since they already have Andre Johnson.
As for the Falcons, wouldn't they just love to finally give Vick someone really capable to throw the ball to? Plus, the fact that he went to GTech has got to be a huge bonus for them. I guess they could get him with the #2 pick if they traded it to the Lions for the #10 and a second rounder.

I'm becoming more and more skeptical about Vick taking the Falcons to the big dance. People always say he's a stud receiver away from turning the Falcons into a serious contender. But he's always had a top rushing game behind him and usually one of the better defenses in the league. So what gives?

As far as the draft value chart goes Atlanta's #10 pick along with both 2nd rounders isn't even enough to move up to the #2 spot. If you trade up that far you have to pay a hefty price. I would go after CJ if I were Atlanta. That would be so sick. Even though I think Vick is a bum.

Nice. The Falcons may dread the day they let this kid go.

On another note: If CJ is there at 6, I guarantee the Skins take him and keep him.

nothing personal, but there is no way the skins want anything to do with Johnson, other then trading him. the simple fact is we have much greater needs then a wide out. regardless of how good anyone thinks he will be. i don't know why anyone would want him, as dreadful as our defense was last season. and i am one who isnt sold on shaub. a second for him is a coup for the falcons

No doubt we have greater needs, I agee with you there. But Calvin Johnson is, I hate to say can't miss, close as it gets.

We can find a DT either in the draft or FA or coach up what we have. A Calvin Johnson won't be next years draft or the year after.

Certainly there will be another Calvin Johnson again. The hype machine gets going and the No. 1 receiver prospect becomes the greatest thing since sliced bread.

We won't need the top WR next year either.

For every Calvin Johnson, I think there will be two or three Alan Branch's.

You got that right. Remember the people who had Troy Williamson as our #1 target a couple of years ago?

The dude has 61 catches for 827 yards and 2 touchdowns in two seasons.
