Yeah, NFL radio brought this up today. I almost ran off the road in protest.

Re: Here we go again with Briggs
Stupid is as stupid does, I said right before the first Briggs rumor, they will find a way to screw up this draft, at least what little draft we actually have!
I can already see the press confrence, with GM Joe, carrying on about what a great player we obtained, and what a great deal we recieved from the Bears, with Snyder Regurgitating his every word. Just what we need a high priced LB? How about just trading down a bit and take Willis? He's younger, faster, and would be much cheaper? I know it's just a rumor, but they shouldn't even be answering a phone call from chicago, let alone entertain a trade for Briggs, personally I wouldn't make the trade for a third rd pick, I am not paying this guy big money! Especially a player who is willing to sit out rather than play for a SB contender for over 7 mil. I want nothing to do with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Here is the dream scenario, which will never happen, but we could dream. Lance Briggs #31 Pick #37 Pick (which we traded to NYJ to move up and get McIntosh and Bears got for T. Jones) for Rocky McIntosh #6 Pick Then we could give up on Rocky, upgrade tremendously at WLB, and actually not lose anything because we would get the pick back that was given up to get McIntosh. Plus, we could get a DT or DE at #31. Think about this too, if you say WLB isn't a huge need, then why would you say DT is a huge need? Didn't Golston outperform McIntosh last year? Despite Rocky being a higher pick, wouldn't that make LB more imperative than DT? Marshall is ok as a #2, but no where near the player that Briggs is. Anyone ever consider that Briggs playing next to Urlacher actually made Urlacher better? Everyone loves that guy, but Briggs is a player pure and simple. I don't think this would be a bad move (depending upon the particulars) and have really come around on the idea.

Re: Here we go again with Briggs
If the Bears are really desperate the Skins could squeeze them for another pick. They have held strong so far in not offering anything more to the Bears so hopefully they'll stay true to that.

But I also agree with Matty. If they are to do this deal I would put the thumb screws to Angelo. They're the ones who countered a silly counter to our offer and ended the trade basically. Now on the eve they come back looking to possibly take the original deal? Shoot I'd ask for a 3rd rounder in addition to Briggs now. |

Re: Here we go again with Briggs
This is what I'm thinking. They obviously don't think that Briggs is going to work out for them this year and WE are reaping the benefits. Sure, I'd LOVE to move down, pick up Pro Bowl LB AND possibly another pick! We take the best DT available at 31, then with our additional pick, grab a guard or DE. Reading all these articles out today definitely reminds me that there is no sure thing in the early rounds of the draft.

Re: Here we go again with Briggs
What would we need to do is figure out how to get the Bears' 2nd rounder. Then we could get Briggs, at #31 draft someone like Justin Harrell or Michael Griffin, and at #37 get a Jarvis Moss or Anthony Spencer.
