Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team
Everyone always equates overpaid to overrated. Was his value worth the Redskins spending all that money that could have been used to give Cooley or Taylor an extension? Was it worth the Skins not being able to sign a DE or DT? In my opinion NO. I DO however think that Randle El made the best of his limited looks in the passing game.
Overpaid, yes. Overrated, no. I don't think ANY pundit expected him to come in and put up a thousand yards receiving.

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team
He makes a valid point that ARE is getting big money for a #3 WR, but considering his special teams work and the trick play ability he brings to the table I think it's tough to put a price on him.

I kind of agree with that, he's probably not worth the money, but really who would be able to do all that he can do? I think he can be as good as the QB and the offense allows him to be. I know we have spent a lot more money on far worse so I am not going to cry over Randel'el.

I know I might get in trouble for this, but at the end of the article, some guy wrote something about Darwin Walker:

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team
I am not convinced he is not worth the money.
A solid econmoic argument can be made that teams like the Redskins, ie teams flush with cash, operate on a different salary cap than everyone else. Remember the salary cap is largely an accounting number and not a real money amount. In essence $10mil to us is not the same as $10mil to the Bills. For $10mil the bills would need to get far better returns than average. For $10 to us we probably don't even need average returns. The way the cap works in terms of money amounts is really very relative to teams respective financial positions. Of which ours is the best in terms of revenue and profits. |

it seems to me that this logic is what gets us into trouble when it comes to signing talent that we REALLY need... (DT and DE)

Ty Warren never gets any pub. Year in and year out NE always has a stingy run defense and it all starts w/ the nose tackle. Same with Kelly Gregg. That dude is like a fire hydrant.

I was surprised he gave our underrated to Golston. Personally I think our most underrated player is Randy Thomas, or Mike Sellers.

For those who don't think that ARE is the most overrated player on the team, who do you think it is?

Re: CBS Sportsline list of overrated and underrated players for each team
If I'm being totally honest, it's Santana Moss. WITHOUT a doubt I think he is a good receiver. He's being mentioned among the elite far too often with only one true "elite" season to show for it.
