My new business.
So, seeing you all talk about SBF and mentioning hhow he should start a business selling his ribs got me thinking. My dad and I have been working on this project for a few months now, and we're about ready. Two years ago we had a party at my house and we bought a 20'x20' tent to put in the yard and eat and socialize under. Someone jokingly commented on how nice it was and said we should start a business renting them out. Well we have decided to do it. We are now officially "Rent-A-Tent" incorporated. We just got incorporated on Monday and we have all the paperwork and licensing out of the way. Now we need insurance and a few more tents.
We have no business cards or any advertisment together but we are looking to be ready to rent in another month or so. So I'm spreading business by word of mouth. Also, prices are still up in the air but I'll add on when we know. Just thought I would put the word out there. And for SBF, the whole process of starting a small business is very easy and inexpensive. You should look into it. |

Re: My new business.
Is it going to be full service where people can get tables and chairs? A budy of mine has a cousin who has a rental business like this and he does very well. He started out small and has added more each year. He has those tents that can cover a back yard and you can get dance floors, PA systems, and just about anything else you may need for a party minus the food and drinks. He started with like three tents and a few chairs and tables and now he has a warehouse full of stuff.

You can get a free website from Microsoft: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/of...e/default.aspx
Not the best host or plan but its free and it includes a free domain name. It has a site builder so anyone can put a basic website together. If you end up renting office space and need a phone system or any other networking equiptment, Shoot me an email, I will help you out. |

Re: My new business.
Yea we are staring out pretty simple with just a couple different size tents and maybe tables and chairs if we can find a good set cheap. We have talked about adding more to it but we want to get a feel for how it goes with the basics and then move up from there. We are also thinking down the line of joining up with my neighbor who caters parties and events and if we expand to that point we may talk to him about joining and offering his services too. The website is also something I will be looking into. Just something simple that shows what we offer, our prices and how to contact us.
