Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

ESPN - Dolphins release unhappy quarterback Culpepper - NFL

His fate was sealed ahwile ago when Trent Green came to town. Not a big shock. Will he end up somewhere or is he done?

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

First I would like to say shame on Miami for treating the guy like shit. Once they got Green they should have just cut the guy instead of dragging it out like they did. They didn't let the guy practice or train at the facility even though he was under contract. Total BS.

It looks like he will end up in Jack. It's hard to believe just a few short years ago this guy had one of the best seasons ever for an NFL QB. W/out Moss the guy looks lost, plus he has been hurt. I honestly think he is done but I hope he proves me wrong.

Miami treated Dante like the Skins treated Patrick, but at least Dante did get hurt, Patrick just got yanked. I read the Dante wanted to stay in Fla and Jacksonville would be a good fit for him. I can no longer see him as a bona fide starter though.

If I recall, Ramsey was never allowed not to come to the facility. He just got benched because of poor performance.

I don't recall that Ramsey got benched for poor performance. If I remember correctly, he had over a 100 yards in a quarter and a half and had thrown for one touchdown (called back through no fault of Ramsey's) when he was benched for almost the whole season. I also remember that in Ramsey's last game as a Redskin he had a quarterback rating of about 180 and led the Skins in a playoff win against the Giants, only to then be benched for good and traded.

The Skins should pick up Culpepper, but they won't. Once again, Gibbs' judgment about Brunell is in the way of sanity as well as being a monumental irritant. Campbell goes down, Skins go down. We have the weakest backup in the NFL. I'd give five Brunells and faily decent bucks for Culpepper. I'd also cut our other worthless backup and bring up Casey for the third option.

I don't remember the Redskins playing the Giants in a playoff

I think Brunell's value to the team (there I go again talking about Brunell) is greatly underappreciated by the masses. He's not being asked to lead the team on the field. He's there to play when needed but most importantly to help Campbell, sort of serve as another coach and a mentor. I still maintain that in both those categories he's much better than Culpepper. Campbell has spoken highly of him and Brunell has done a very good job of mimicing other offenses in practice

Well, Ramsey NEVER played a playoff game.
Here's the proof:
Patrick Ramsey statistics - pro-football-reference.com
Scroll down and you will see no postseason data.
Now, in 05, he did play the last game of the season vs the Giants...that might be what he is referring to. But going 5 for 7 is not someone that is worthy of anything. Even in 05, his rating was not over 100...it was 95.3, but he only had 25 attempts all season, so it's not like there was enough to go by.
In 04- 74.8
03- 75.8
02- 71.8

Chemistry wise, I will agree...but again, if Campbell goes down, we literally have NO shot. We are putting all our apples in one basket.

Sorry. I should have said the game that got us in the playoffs, not the playoff Same point. Going back to an injured Brunell over Ramsey for the playoffs was truly blind. Not to pick up Culpepper because Brunell is still on the squard would be one of the worse moves in recent Redskin history.

If Campbell goes down this year I'm going to cry like two little girls and then perversely yet again suffer through Brunell's massively hopeless and irritating performances. He's been a menace to Gibb's legacy whether Gibbs knows it or not.

Actually he had a 49.4 QB rating when he was benched, 1 INT, 2 fumbles, and was sacked twice. That's about as poor as you can get.

The sack and fumble was caused by Jansen's missed block and Ramsey's
subsequent unconsciously. The interception wasn't his fault either and I don't recall the other fumble. He was playing well and moving the ball and had just put us in scoring position for the second time when Jansen blew it.

Brunell stunk up the field for the rest of the game. Playing two and a half quarters he threw for less than a hundred yards and failed to move the ball. Gibbs, of course, was fine with that.

However, I'm bowing out on this matter now. I don't want to deal with this business again. Returning to a time when fans turned on a QB who was our leading ground gainer over a four year period in behalf of a coach who had made a horrible decision even to bring Brunell in for the first place is something I dont want to do.

Re: Fins Cut Culpepper...Who picks him up?

The second I heard about Culpepper being released... Atlanta was the first team to come to mind.

Dante Culpepper is a monstrous upgrade over Joey Harrington.
