I need HD-TV help!!!
I am wanting to buy an HD-LCD TV, and I'm wanting to know which brands (other than Sony) would be worth looking into? I trust Sony, and Sharp looks like they put out a pretty good product as well. What about LG TVs? If I am going to put in about $2000 on a TV, I won't something that is going to be worth every penny.

Go out and kick tires man, you can get alot for less than 2 bones, or should I say be careful not to get a tv that's to big for the room size. Look at the delta from picture to picture that will tell the tale.
I have a sharp 42" hd-plasma, I bought at wally world for under 800 bucks, truely outstanding!

You can never go wrong with a Sony. I would advise that you buy a smaller Sony TV then a larger cheaper brand one, I believe you'll get more for your money that way. Quality over quantity.

Re: I need HD-TV help!!!
Costco, Sam's Club, Crutchfield, TigerDirect.com - 4 great places to look for TVs.
Sharp LC-42D62U 42" 1920x1080p 6ms 1200:1 Contrast Ratio HDMI ATSC LCD HDTV at TigerDirect.com - not bad for a 1080p. Just be careful with TigerDirect, as they do sell a lot of Refurbs. Refurbs aren't necessarily bad (just means it was a return that was fixed to factory specs), but it can be hit or miss with them. Vizio has been getting a lot of mixed reviews...but they did develop a line for Wal-Mart that is doing well. My Dad has a 20 inch LCD that is been very good to him. As far as LGs, I've seen some in action, and the picture has been great. Just dont know anything about their reliability. One more point - if you are going to always be using a cable box or directv box, look into a HD Monitor. They may be a great screen for cheaper because they is no built-in tuner.

Re: I need HD-TV help!!!
I am a firm believer that Sony does not offer better quality than the other top brands but does charge more. I am not saying they are not good. I am saying they are not much better than the quality Samsungs and Panasonics. Toshiba has a few good ones. But like others have said. Spend a little more and get a top brand name. Also consider where it is going. Don 't sacrifice quality for size. Just because a LN or Vizio 60' is cheaper than a Samsung 48" doesn't mean you should go with the cheapo. They are perfectly fine for many people but if you are picky you'll want the smaller better quality TV.

Re: I need HD-TV help!!!
Well here's the deal. I definitely wouldn't need anything bigger than a 42 inch tv. Even if I move out of my apartment (which I"m hoping to do possibly by the end of next year) I think a 42 inch tv would be more than enough.
I have a friend who has a 42 inch Sony LCD, and it's got a nice picture....great TV! He did pay about $2000 for it. In Sears, I noticed a smaller Sharp tv that had an excellent picture. I think it was a 32 inch LCD. I wouldn't want anything smaller than that TV. Those two brands I trust, but you know, I want to try to get as much as I can for less. Should I be ok with getting a 720p tv, or should I just go ahead and get a 1080p?

Get the biggest 1080p you can for your money. If it came down between a $1200 720p and a $2200 1080p for the same brand and size, I'd spend the extra grand for the 1080. Once HD DVDs come into the forefront, you'll thank us for it.
