Redskin/Ravens Scrimmage Discussion

I figured we should have a discussion thread for the scrimmage, for those of us that are able to watch it. For those that can't, the format is as follows:

15 minutes - Special teams
30 minutes - 7 on 7 (might see some starters)
30 minutes - 11 on 11 (very few starters)

Rignt now, they're just taking turns kicking off and punting. Frost kicked a few boomers. The Washington gunners looked slow. Randle El fielded one punt. The other potential punt returners are ass. One fumbled, and one couldn't decide if he wanted to field the punt or let it roll.

Right on! Keep those updates coming!

Pretty boring I have to say, Campbell looks good though. Too bad im watching from a Baltimore channel which is focusing twice as much on the Ravens than the Redskins. Oh and word is they might forgo the 11 on 11 because of the heat.. glad I didn't go this year haha

Smoot is a beast, Campbell looks pretty good. Brunell continues to suck. Lots of Thrash and Cooley. Defense looking very nice. Granted this is all 7v7, so not a great indicator.

Smoot's pick was nice, but McNair lobbed it right to him. Campbell looks solid. Brunell looks like he's trying to prove he still has an arm, and threw into double coverage.

On the Ravens side, Troy Smith looks better than Kyle Boller.

That's still an upgrade from Carlos Rogers who can't catch balls lobbed right to him. I can't wait. Carlos is going to be our nickel back.

I doubt it. Rogers is a far better tackler and only a slight downgrade in the hands department. If Smoot took Rogers starting job, you'd just end up seeing 20 yard runs to his side, as opposed to the 20 yard completions that Rogers gives up.

That being said, I think Rogers will be vastly improved this season, and I am glad that Smoot is back on the squad.

You raise a good point about Smoot's tackling abilities. I think Carlos is a steep downgrade in the hands department though. Smoot had some nice picks when he was here. I've seen the ball bounce off Roger's stone hands or his chest too many times for a #2. So the question is "Will our safeties be better suited to help out in pass cocerage or run defense?" Judging from last year, I'd say run D, but hopefully, ST will be the ball hawk he was at the U.

Rock Cartwright is wearing 23, and the MASN guys were like its Omar Stoutmire, no Ladell Betts. But Ladell is wearing 46 today.
