Wow, they have to trim rosters already or what? He must have looked pretty bad in the scrimmage or Palmer looked pretty good. I haven't seen it, but it seems early to make that decision. hmmmmm... |

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
we had 5 in camp...didn't have enough work for all of them. do it this early and he can hook on somewhere else. it was probably a "we'll go ahead and do this for you so you can get a better chance somewhere else."

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
Yeah, that makes sense since we probably have our top three in Jason, Mark and Todd. Palmer will probably end up on the practice squad unless we decide to release Todd Collins between now and the beginning of the season.

Palmer looked good... but Collins is still the worst and should have been the first to go.

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
If Bramlet was so good in the NFL "Zooropa," wouldn't he have been worth a little more time in camp?

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
Have to agree with you there. Coach Gibbs and AS would not have done that before the preseason games started this unless the kid really sucked. I am pulling for Palmer to replace Collins for sure!!!!!!!

When I first saw this thread, I was like....oh crap...stuck with 2 old timers again...but then I realized....correct me if I'm wrong...but Bramlet was on the squad briefly in January and presumably got a detailed look by the coaching staff... And though I, too, wish Bramlet became great and was our permanant backup...he just must not have much upside, otherwise, they wouldv'e kept him over a 6th rounder or a perinial old backup in Collins. The truth is it takes a couple years to develop a rookie qb....especially a non-starter due to lack of reps...if we keep Palmer, we will likely have him on the practice squad year 1 and on the team year 2 as the 3rd stringer...only in year 3 would he possibly be a 2nd stringer. So...the decision has likely already been made here. On the other hand, if they kept Bramlet, he should be good enough for number 2 by next year...and based on the fact he hardly knows the playbook and the fact that the Skins already saw his skills before and sent him to Europe....I'm pretty sure they think his upside aint much better than it is now....no upside....good bye. I wish Bramlet all the best...as long as he doesn't succeed in the NFC East.

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
[sarcasm]I don't know, Gibbs and Saunders seem hell bent on destroying this team. What the heck do they know about QB evaluation? Bramlet was the real deal. The success of the entire franchise just got released. That's it, I'm selling my prized 1991 Redskins jumbo popcorn bottle.[/sarcasm]
Sometimes I think some of you guys are just confused Dallas fans.

Re: Report: Redskins Release Casey Bramlet
I'm telling you Palmer needs to be on this roster. I bet we'll see a lot of playing time between him and Collins this preseason.

Is he that good? I don't know much about him. He doesn't have spectacular stats at the college level...Texas El Paso...good genes though. |

That's a pretty spectacular stat! Reson he dropped in draft was his indecision in pocket and weak conference competition.
