How long will the Jamarcus Russell hold out be?

I figure if Brady Quinn can get an 11 page thread about him being selfish or not, Jamarcus Russell deserves a little attention.
How long will this hold out be, and do you think this is hurting him in the eyes of the fans?

Well, the length of holding out is good question.. It's actually an question mark, that even NFL analyzers cldn't answer.. So.. And oh yeah, u can count on this hurting Raiders fans..

He'll sign around week 8 when the Raiders are winless with no offensive touchdowns. Who will the Raiders take with the No. 1 next year?

Probably in line for a big RB prospect. McFadden?

I heard that the Raiders picked him because of his unsignability.

If Culpeppers healthy, the Raiders won't be picking in the top five.

If he's not, they'll be looking at a top offensive tackle prospect.

While I do think Culpepper is a great pick up, I do not think the Raiders are a good team, they could very easily be a bottom 5 team.

Anywho...I think Russell will cave in and sign after the 2nd preseason game.

Culpepper won't see the field unless McCown gets injured (sad but true, Kiffen was praising him highly).
Would Al spend another top pick on OT after Gallery burned him so recently?
I'm actually surprised that they haven't tried to trade Russell.

At least Russell wont be planted on his ass 55-65 times this season and I dont think that hurts him in the eyes of the fans.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

It's just as well, the guy shouldn't hit the field until the Raiders get some help up front (i.e., next season). As their line currently stands, Russell would get the piss knocked out of him by week 2.

Re: How long will the Jamarcus Russell hold out be?

I am trying to understand how they have offensive line problems when the have used 8 draft picks in the last 5 drafts to address the offensive line. Half of them were 1st day picks.

Really tough luck.

When it comes to the O Line, you really just have to trust majority opinion. I know of no cutting edge analysis that can give scouts an edge. It tends to be a pretty easy position to evaluate, but at times, majority opinion misses badly. The Raiders just got the short end of the stick about 3-5 times.

Tough luck.

That would explain how our Undrafted Rookie FA T Heyer slipped through the cracks, but I still cannot understand how it happend to them so many times. Common sense would tell you to find new offensive line scouts.

It was pretty much majority opinion though that these guys were the real deal.

I'd like to roll out a long and careful objective analysis showing the scouting error for you...except I was as sure as the rest of you that Gallery and Grove were going to restore the toughness to the Raiders O.

With Carlisle, McQuistan, and Grove on the interior, they should be alright up the middle. But Barry Sims and Gallery at the tackles? Sims has been awful since back when the Raiders weren't, and Gallery has been a bust of epic proportions.
