Based on past practice, Gibbs never proved to be one dimensional - until the 4th Q. The ball will be protected but it will also be spread around and pushed down the field. No doubt C.P. will get his yards. Another question is what will his receiving yards look like?

Portis has ripped it up during camp. I think hes going to easily break the skins record, held by Davis, and definitly have over 2200 combined yards.
Did you guy sread the article where he said he wanted 101 receptions to break LTs mark from last year, and the rushing record. And how they said that while it may have been a joke they think he will definitly have a shot becuase Gibbs wants him to be a huge part of the offense and be a receiving back as well.

he can do the holmes/LT run receiver thing i'm sure... he WAS a WR until his college needed a 2nd back... definately see 1500+ rushing and at least 600 receiving...

I put 1000-1500. I wanna see how our line does this year. I hope he'll do better, but like always, I stay skeptical till he rushes for X amount of yards.

I think that he will rush from between 1,500-2,000. This brings a lot of issues into the equation. First, he has rushed for over 1,500 yards for each of his two nfl seasons and he has only matured as a player since then. Next, he will be running behind an awesome line with the likes of Chris Samuels, Randy Thomas, and Jon Jansen. This line also has Joe Bugel, who is one of the greatest line coaches ever, in charge. Finally, Portis is the real deal! He has enough talent to make the most out of every running play and the heart run the most. He won't let himself fail and I believe that he is one of the running backs in this league who will truly be great.
Here's to Portis... :smashfrea hammering the defense |

Barring any injury, I think that he should be able to get about 1500. He was on pace for like 1800 last year.

He'll easily extend his streak of 1500 yard seasons.
He'll end up in the 1600-1800 yard range and have about 50-60 receptions on top of that. 15-20 total TD's. |

I agree with the 1500-2000 range. He could exceed 2000, but I think Gibbs will change things up here and there by putting the #2 (Betts or Rock) in there to keep him fresh. I do agree that he will get a good number of catches also and will easily break 2000 in combined yards...

1000-1500!
1000-1500! I agree DaSeal! Portis has to prove it with this group of OL. HOF Coach Gibbs will use all of his weapons in order to keep Portis fresh. It is a 16 game season my friends.
If he gets over 1500, I will not be wrong, I'll be elated!

1500 yards for Portis. 2 reasons 1) A sweet O-line that can't wait to block for him. 2) WRs Gardner, Coles, Thrash, Jacobs.

I hope the last choice doesn't jinx us -- "yeah right".
I think Brunellfan hit the nail on the head with the key words of 'barring injury'. I at see at least 1500 yards. That's assuming the offensive line is instantly reformed under Joe Bugel. Hopefully, it will be a seamless process. |
