Dan interviewing for Defensive Coordinator not HC
I have noticed over the passed 2 weeks that Dan has been interviewing only DEFENSIVE coaches from around the league... Schwartz, Mora, Meeks. Combine this with news that the famous "mystery candidate" that Redskin 1 flew to Green Bay for may have been Spagnulo and that he has met with GW 4 times and I see it this way...
Gregg Williams will be introduced as our next head coach. Greg Blache will not be his Defensive Coordinator. My opinion only, but, I think that Dan liked the way that Gibbs was a team manager and organizer, not a hands-on one side of the ball guy. I think he has been talking the GW about being a true "head coach" and therefore asking him who he would trust to run his defense. Shwartz being the first candidate interviewed would make complete sense if it just to see if he'd take the same job with us. It would also make sense that Mora backed out after finding out that he was being interviewed for DC and not HC. Just a thought... anyone else see the logic?

Re: A thought from a different angle
Sure do man -- thats what i posted over a week ago -- GW as head, schwartz as DC -- good insight on the Mora backing out as well.

Re: A thought from a different angle
That's a good point (some have mentioned similar theories over the past week). I just don't know why they would go forth with all the secrecy around it. Why not introduce GW as the head coach and then let him hire the DC later? It's not like there is a rule that says that the HC and coordinators MUST be hired at the same time. If somehow GW's terms of taking the HC job are that he is allowed to pick his successor, that doesn't sound like something snyder (or Gibbs) would interfere in. IMO it's all just a bunch of unnecessary confusion. I'm just sitting back and waiting for things to shake out how they will.

I agree. And I think it's who we're going to hire.

I'll take him, just think how Jerry "plastic face" Jones would feel? There's no love lost there. JJ is a damn good coach, I'll take him over Cowher any day.

Re: Dan interviewing for Defensive Coordinator not HC
Nothing official yet but there's plenty of behind the scenes rumors swirling, hence the "mystery" candidate.

Re: A thought from a different angle
Has anyone REALLY confirmed any fact to Jimmy Johnson being the "mystery candidate"?
John Castleberry on Hampton Roads radio is not a source to use as fact... is he? lol

Re: A thought from a different angle
Best of all worlds would be Jimmy Johnson in a personnel role and GW as head coach.

Re: A thought from a different angle
For Jimmy Johnson to be put into a personnel move would be a very good move. I'm thinking that he's right, all we've been looking for is a defensive coordinator
