Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980

Just heard on 980 that the Skins will announce Jim Fassel as the new head coach of the Redskins.

Re: Coaching on Rumor on 980

Thanks 12th. Let me see if I cand find another source to confirm. While they may be right, 980 has terrible sources.

if this is true, i don't think i'll be joining alot of you in the mass bandwagon jump. fassel is a questionable hire. but i'm hesitant to call it a bad one.

if it is true, let's at least wait to see what kind of staff he assembles.

What a horrible way to end such a hard season. GW loses his best player of all time, and then gets pushed out of the HC spot that he's wanted all along and worked hard for..... Nice, real nice....

I'd really like to know what the hell Dan Snyder is thinking... because he certainly isn't listening to his TEAM – you know, the way Gibbs did!!!!!!!

If it is then it is and we'll hope for the best. At this point, I hope we don't go after Rex Ryan. I am in no mood to be giving up draft picks as compensation for the guy.

if what i've read is correct, the ravens already fired ryan. in which case he is fully available for hire.

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980

Well if hired, looks like they will try and bring Rex Ryan from B-More over to be our new DC. Which means bye to Williams and Saunders. So we are going to have the Baltimore Offense and Defense... woo hoo boring football. At least our Offensive players are a lot better then the Ravens.

Great point. Frankly, I'd like to see Williams stick around as D-coordinator if Fassel would have him. What I don't want to see is The Danny throwing draft picks like confetti to Baltimore as compensation for Rex Ryan as DC.

We all just did. For some reason this seems like a real shot below the belt, like Snyder has no respect for Gibbs and doesn't seem to care what he thinks (as it was reported he was lobbying for Gregg Williams behind the scene). I wish Mr. Cooke would have given the franchise to one of his children rather than sell it to that idiot Snyder.

How could he be lobbying for GW when it was reported that he was backing the promotion of Cerrato? I'm going to assume Gibbs knew all about their bad blood. Not to make Gibbs out to be straddling the line or anything but he must have known that if Cerrato got promoted that GW was pretty much as good as gone.
