Psychics and Speculation

Ok, so I'm sitting here reading stuff in the wash. post and wash. times, and I just want to rip the arm pit hairs out of every beat reporter one by bloody one! I am really sick of all the nit picking about Coach Zorn's presser yesterday and Snyder's process of elimination on picking the next head coach. I mean seriously its at an all time low. Just like sally jackass jerkin's new piece, its not reporting anymore, its just a opportunity to take shots at anything Redskins. I'm totally ok with the Zorn, only time will tell. I know he is going to hit some bumps, but who doesn't? I watched JLC's little video after Zorn's presser and all he did was recap the last 30 plus days, no 'highlights' from the presser. I'm just over all the rumors and speculation on how and why we ended up with Zorn as our new coach. And to all the psychics across the nation who have already given him a 1-15 record the next 2 years, and how he doesn't know how to handle a HC job, blah blah blah. How do you know this I ask? Give the man a chance to make or break himself.

I'm running out of things to say to threads like this.

Anyone care to take a stab at it?

Doesn't psychic look like a word that is misspelled when it really isn't? Doesn't misspelled look like a word that is misspelled when you look at it?

I'll be honest, I really thought that this thread was about physics and speculation when I first opened it.

Hooked on phonics worked for me.

Redskin fans should be pretty aware by now that the media for the most part has a pretty biased slant when it comes to all things Dan Snyder.

Well it's not just reporters. Plenty of Redskins fans (just search threads here) have speculated and jumped to conclusions. I suppose though a higher standard should be set for the media that the fans.

Ultimately, it won't really matter how we got here. It matters what happens next

Call me an optimist, but I see Zorn becoming a great coach. I like the rabbit out of the hat surprise.

Re: Psychics and Speculation

I don't start many threads, but just today on my way to the Doctors' office it crossed my mind to start a simular thread. I thought better of it because I came to the conclusion that much more than was neccessary has already been said.

However, there have been times during the process of naming a successor to Joe Gibbs, the entire process has been both nerve-racking, and in some instances down right horrorfying. In all the years I've been associated with professional football, never have I witnessed anything remotely resembling what has transpired over the last four weeks. The speculation, criticizm and second guessing has been second to none. Whether we agree with the process or the selection of Zorn to be the next HC or not, it was never the media or anyone elses' decision to make in the first place. If we could say with certainty what the outcome of the selection is going to be, then we're working with a very special talent that would be in demand worldwide. I agree with you.........Give the whole situation time to reveal itself, all that's required to accomplish that is a little patience. PATIENCE is the greatest virtue known to mankind.

I agree with you on Z-Man SkinemAll. However I feel like the critism directed at Synder is justified. The "process" was laughable and I hope that Dan Synder uses this to understand that he needs to surround himself with more football people in the future. As for the other teams, well only the Dolphins seem to have made a good hire.

I mean Mike Smith on the Falcons and Rob VanPetrino as his DC doesn't exactly instill confidence in me or the Falcons faithful down here in Atlanta. And John Harbraugh? I didn't even know Jim had a brother, but the guy who was a special teams coordinator/DB coach is getting less attention then the hiring of Z-man, a well respected QB coach who has to understand more aspects of the game then any other position coach due to the nature of the QB position.

I love Z-man and hopefully his straight-forward nature will keep Danny boy in check.

Re: Psychics and Speculation

Two things:

1) I am much more enamored of Jim Zorn after watching his press conference on Redskins.com. I liked the way he handled himself and he didn't even seem as nervous as others on here had indicated (at least to me). I could see why Snyder/Cerratto might be drawn to him more than Jim Fassel.

2) I do put some stock in what Jason LaCanfora reports since he is the beat writer for a legit paper like the Post. I don't know that it is really fair to say he is trying to be a psychic. He's a serious reporter and certainly has more access than most of us do. I should remind myself sometimes, though, that he can have an anti-Snyder tone at times. Sally Jenkins is a whole other story, and I wouldn't put her and LaCanfora in the same boat.

Well put. I get sick of people here knocking JLC's blog when he goes out of his way to distinguish between his blog & the content that he puts in NEWS stories.

I think the post does a great job of covering the skins & most 'speculation' usually turns out to have some grain of truth. Opinions (editorials) on the other hand, are a different story. If you want to read people saying great things about Snyder & the skins you might look here on the Warpath, but even then there's plenty of venom directed at Danny & vinny here too.

Re: Psychics and Speculation

Don't get me wrong, I like reading most of JLC's stuff. Its just that it seems like sometimes, here lately in particular, he writes more like a pissed off 5th grader who just got gang tackled and pink belly from 11 big bullies. I guess when Danny boy disses him he writes with a little more negative tone. As I understand it, Gibbs wasnt particularly fond of him either and didn't give him much to work with.

I agree with you Dirtbag359, the process did seem pretty laughable on the surface, but do any of us really know what went on at the mansion? Ya know what I mean, the whole evaluation. And they didn't have a whole lot to work with as far as candidates, and I'm glad they took their time, finally showing some patients. but yes it does seem laughable to some degree by many, but I feel alot of that had to do with the way it was reported.

I guess the bottom line is Danny and the Redskins are cursed until they start winning Superbowl's, or at least damn close.

No one has a clue except Snyder, Cerrato, Gibbs (?), and the coaching candidates. Unless I hear something specific from anyone from that list, I'm assuming the process went about as well as it could.

And you're right, Snyder especially will be criticized heavily until we have another Lombardi; maybe even two more.

F...public opinion.
