Trade for Boldin?

I just saw on NFL Total Access that Boldin has requested a trade. How would you guys feel about going after him instead of Chad Johnson?

Of course the Cards are saying no deal, but would they jump at the same deal we offered for CJ?

I personally dont think that Boldin is worth as much as CJ. Dont get me wrong though for the right place Id take him, but that price is not a 1st and a conditional pick next year. Maybe a 1st this season and thats it.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

I would do it. I wouldnt mind having either one of these guys. Boldin is alot younger so that might give the cards some leverage.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

I like Boldin but to me he's more of a #2 WR. I think he could make a great complement to Santana. And you could argue that he may even be a better fit for us than CJ.

But I wouldn't offer a first for him.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

Isn't it funny that the two most desireable trade possiblities at WR, are both from teams where the owner is considered stubborn and hard headed?

Same here. I'd love to see him in B&G and would gladly give up our 1st + something else (e.g., 5th or player) for him. He's young, tough, and has good hands.

Didn't the Cards already lose Bryant Johnson? If so, they probably mean what they say -- he isn't going anywhere.

If they do wind up trading him, why not, go for it. The way I see it, this passing offense is stuck in mediocrity when the top two targets are Moss and Cooley. To get to the next level offensively, you have to line up with something better than Moss, ARE, and Cooley.

The way I see it, it won't really matter until the QB makes his expected breakthrough. That could be this year, I mean Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger both broke out as 4th year players, but usually its the 5th season.

I think it would be smarter to wait until we see Campbell develop, and then go out and pay a lot for a receiver who may not be on the market yet at this point. Because then, you know he can come in and contribute from day one, as opposed to bringing him in and having him get frustrated while the QB is developing.

I do too, in particular because I think he'll give us a legitimate number one and come WAAAAY less than CJ.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

He's not as good as CJ. But I'd give our first and a later pick. Definitely not the conditional 3rd we offered for CJ. A 1st and a conditional 4/5th that can move up to a 3rd. Don't get me wrong, I love Boldin, but I'm not totally sure he can be the #1 in any offense. But he's better than anything we have.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

If we were not as old on our lines , I would be fine with a # 1 for Boldin . Maybe Im old school , I just see too many throw first teams as weaker ,,, I would rather keep our 1st rd pick < or trade down for more picks > and pick up some nasty linemen . Portis might run wild with a strong ,deep line and big Mike S. at FB . Give JC a strong running game , the passing game will be fine . I hope the cowpukes make a big trade for CJ , would love to see Landry KO TO and Ocho Cinko in the same game .

I would feel much better about Boldin than CJ. Younger, no drama, bigger and more physical.

Re: Trade for Boldin?

I like boldin a lot, but I don't really see where there are any wideouts worth anything more than one first round pick, and I wouldn't even want to really give that up.
