A message just came accross Comcast Sports Net that said we had offered Miami a round 2nd round pick next year for Jason Taylor. I will look for a link and or more details.

Yup. It's actually a 2nd and a 6th in 2010. From Jlac:
Posted at 6:41 PM ET, 07/20/2008 Skins Trade For Taylor Vinny Cerrato just announced the Skins acquired Pro Bowl DE Jason Taylor from Miami for a second round pick in 2009 and a sixth round pick in 2010.

Wow, I thought they would end up doing this deal anyways before the start of the season. Let's hope that JT still has some gas in the tank and can perform for a couple years.

I guess I'm pleased that it's not a 1st. Also JT is going to be better than Daniels so I can't complain much.
He's going to a great market if he wants major exposure before he starts his Hollywood career.

These "showy" types concern me because he could end up like Deion Sanders...all bling, no bang. Time will tell whether he's using us or not.

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
I feel this was a good trade for the Redskins. Taylor is a dominate player and our defensive will be that much better. Not taking anything away from Philip Daniels, but Taylor has the creds and he will be a force our "D". Welcome to the Redskins, Jason.

Jason Taylor and Dieon Sanders are two very different people in my opinions. Taylor likes the limelight but he always seems to have a bit of humility. Sanders on the other hand will dance and talk at all times even if his team is loosing.

I hope he enjoys playing here and stays for a few years. A 2nd & 6th round pick is a lot for one last hurrah from JT.

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
All depends on how Taylor performs. If he puts up 10+ sacks two seasons in a row, and generates an additional 3 or 4 turnovers that we otherwise probably wouldn't have generated, I'd gladly give up a 2nd.
If he stinks, then yeah, it was too much. But what are the chances that Jason Taylor, of all people, will stink this year? Low. I'll take it.

re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
The thing about trading out of the first round this year was it was unlikely that any of our second round picks would've been holdouts. Jason Taylor, even at his age now, is still good value for a 2nd rounder (6th rounder is just a throw in). I'm dancing with the stars now...

re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
The 6th is almost valueless, just a throw in deal, but Miami really made out on us with the 2nd. I mean, if Daniels doesn't go down, they either have to settle for a 4th from someone else, or just hold on to him for this season.
This is almost as nice for them as getting a 2nd for Chris Chambers. Not quite that good, but close.

re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
Just like some people, I think 2nd rd is kinda too much.. Also JT would be playing as left end, hope it will be a smooth change.. But there's nothing we can do but to hope the best out of this deal.. (I hope he will play more than a yr)
