Wow. Very nice. It's going to be hard to bench the defensive player of the week.

Re: Horton Wins NFC Defensive Player of the Week

That's awesome. I love Reed Doughty's heart and work ethic, but Horton just seems to have a much better motor, and obviously a great nose for the ball. Has Reed ever forced or recovered a fumble or intercepted a pass since becoming a starter? Actually, I just looked at his stat sheet - he's played in 27 games as a Redskin- 0 FF, 0 INTs, 0.5 sacks. Hmmmm.

Anyway, congrats to Horton. I hope he has a monster week of practice and wins the job outright. Reed can still contribute on teams and be a very reliable back up. Let's face it folks, Horton has been killing it since the HOF game.

I do think he recovered a blocked punt once, but I could be wrong.

The fact that we have to rack our brains and search the internet to come up with anything significant he's done while Horton is winning league honors in his first start should say something. This was a high octane offense Horton was making these plays against too.

Yeah you are correct. He did in the preseason game...Westbrook couldn't handle it and he came in and got the recovery. Forgot which game it was.

By Zorns comments and waht I've read on the redskins blog. Doughty is starting again. But I we get a big dose of Horton. He just has that ball hawk instinct & mentality and you can't teach that.

Congrads to Horton but DPW award doesnt mean Pro Bowl.

On the 07 list their are many names that are not "household".

Week 1: Robert Geathers
Week 2: Nate Clements
Week 3: Nick Barnett
Week 4: Osi Umenyiora
Week 5: Ike Taylor
Week 6: Charles Woodson
Week 7: London Fletcher
Week 8: Mike Vrabel
Week 9: James Harrison
Week 10: Antonio Cromartie
Week 11: Corey Williams
Week 12: Patrick Willis
Week 13: Lofa Tatupu
Week 14: Marcus Trufant
Week 15: Atari Bigby
Week 16: Patrick Willis
Week 17: Jyles Tucker

Actually most of those names are damn good players, and most have made pro-bowls. Aside from Jyles Tucker, everyone on that list is very solid. And he could end up solid with Merriman on the shelf. He's a second year player and didn't see action until week 12 last year according to his game log on NFL.com.

While DPW may not equal pro-bowl, judging by this list it DEFINITELY doesn't equal fluke either.

I'm not sure what your definition of a household name is, but I know all of these players and they're all pretty good.
