Barrow setback

During an interview on WTEM, Washington Redskins HC Joe Gibbs said MLB Michael Barrow (left knee) suffered a bit of a setback over the weekend concerning cartilage in his left knee. He will undergo an MRI today or tomorrow. Barrow has been sidelined since 8/3/04 with his knee problem.

Yes, strange that Mitchell is cut despite Barrow's injury.
Makes you wonder if the Redskins are waiting for someone on the waiver wire........seems defensive coordiantor, Williams was that unimpressed with Mitchell....things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Either that or he's very impressed with Pierce and Kheri Campbell.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Barrow miss a lot of time, and even when healthy may not get put in right away if the current squad gets chemistry going.

I have heard some good reports on Pierce...but still we need depth on defense especially..............

This what happens when we inherit the rejects of the New York Midgets. I mean Giants. We inherited a no good Armstead and he did was a bust. Now we have Barrow who was was washed up last year along with the entire Giant defensive line except Strahan.

Sunra, I argued against you about this point in another thread, the noticed you said the same thing here. What makes you thing Armstead was a bust? Armstead was arguably the mvp of our defense last year and a leader on the field and in the locker room. He did lead the team in sacks. Tell me, what about Armstead makes you think he was a bust last year. And dont say anything about washington or anyone we have now. It doesnt matter that hes gone, im only commenting on the fact that you considered him a bust?

Bust maybe a bit strong, but Armstead was OK on a bad defense. So it is relative. Armstead is not quick and explosive enough to be a top weak side linebacker. He was a few years ago, but he is to old and it was time for the team to go in a new direction. Plus Lavar's talents were being waisted at SLB. Lavar should be a monster at WLB.

Regarding Barrow's injury and the MLB position:
I hope we do not end up having to move Lavar to middle LB until Barrow heals. Mitchell might have been cut too early. I do not like the idea of playing Antonio Pierce or Khary Campbell at MLB. Mitchell was the logical back up until Barrow comes back.

in what type of bizarro world does 150 tackles(114 solo), 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 4 pass deflections behind a pretty paper thin defensive line make Barrow washed up?
If that's washed up then I'm beggin for our entire lb group play that badly.

Pierce, Campbell, Marshall and Washington can get the job done. Their fast and strong and work well with Lavar.

Still wish we kept Trotter if he would have taken a pay cut.

He had knee problems late 2002, but didn't miss a game because of his knee last year. Moot point... he signed with Philly.

Losing Barrow is NOT a good thing. He is a capable linebacker - when healthy and someone who can patrol the middle of the defense for RBs who might get through a less than stalwart DL.

I thought this was tendonitis; now they are talking about cartilege problems. I'm not happy at all about this!
