I emailed her to find out where she's been the past few weeks and here's her response:

Hi Matt: the redskins look great and Snyder deserves a ton of credit for Zorn. Also the lines are playing much better than I thought -- partly because of Zorn's nifty play calling. All of which I plan to write next week. I've been in Alaska on a Sarah Palin story which is why I haven't been in the paper. I'm also trying to finish a book project. Soon as I get my other responsibilities behind me I will be very pleased to praise the skins as they richly deserve. They look terrific and isn't it fun? Best, sj

Not to defend Sally Jenkins, but this was no worst than what some people were saying here (including myself). Although then again we are just yahoo fans, whereas she's a writer for a national newspaper.

Well...that is certainly understandable as I, myself have been attending a Dental conference with the ADA in Herzegovina. As soon as I return from a hunt for the elusive Snipe in Tanzania I'll will return to the states to write that BSSSSSSS.
It is obviously a first prioity.

LOL, as much as she rips us (and we rip her in return) at least she wasn't a wet blanket like JLC when she responded to you. I get from the national press and some Redskins beat reporters (O'Hallaran from the Times and JLC/Jason Reid from the WP) that they are waiting to say 'I told you so' whenever we lose a game and not giving due respect when they win.

I find this thread rude. Posting private communication, and going to find someone that made a comment is rude.
Our success should be enough for us, we are acting as if we won the super bowl...it's a long season guys, anything can happen. 4 wins is not enough to be talking the trash we're talking.

BUT These four wins (not a sheep in the bunch) are worth some respect.
My only request is thus; be as quick and with as much enthusiasm, to praise the Skins as those same people were to bury them!

We can talk all the trash we want -- we're just fans.

I've been humble for so long, with such disappointing teams in the past, I'm enjoying the opportunity to actually feel good about the Skins, and express that vocally. There's nothing wrong with that.

As for being rude, I have no idea where you're coming from. SJ trashes the Skins all the time, and now she's nowhere to be found for the last 4 weeks. Nobody has a right to call her out on that, or it's rude to do so? I disagree.

Also, I call bullshit on her "busy" schedule which doesn't allow enough time to write about the Skins. She obviously had enough time to write the article after week 1. The bottom line is that she likes to criticize the team, and doesn't like to praise them. God forbid anyone criticize her for that!
