Thumbs down That 2nd round pick is too Much!!!!

The trade with Denver for Portis for Bailey along with the draft pick is just too much! Plain and clear!!! A shut down corner is worth more then a runningback! That being said lets say the age and he player Portis is the trade such not have that high a draft pick in it! There are many very good runingbacks in this draft and a few Corners in it as well along in free agents ! In the past we have done very poor in these kind of deals! Another thing giving up draft picks and high ones with needs on the D line just seems foollish! What kind of D line will we have for that matter what kind of D will we have with out a shut down corner? You can't take away from paul to pay peter ever year! The good teams take mid leave free agents and the draft to build thier teams! I am not aganist the trade just not giving the 2nd round pick!

Either the Skins have decided that they are not going to be able to sign Bailey under the current climate and so they are not choosing between a shut down corner and a RB. They are trying to get a top flight RB for a guy they aren't going to keep. And before you tell me that as a franchise player he would bring two #1 picks, the answer is no he will not.

Another possibility is that they are putting Bailey's agent in touch with teams that obviously want him so that he can get their offers and then the skins know what they are bidding against in order to sign Bailey.

I don't read minds so I don't know for sure...

i would rather see them send bailey, and chris samuels rather than the number 2 pick.samuels we can do without,IMO.he has played with his head up his rear end the last two years anyhow.we need that 2nd round pick, but not samuels,he stinks.

I agree ship Samules out!! He is going to want a lot of jack. And I don't think he has earned it the past 2 years!

Don't you guys want to give Samuels a chance to play under a real O-line coach? Think about it, he has played poorly the past two years under Helton...he was fine before. Just wait till Bugel gets a hold of him!

Samuels used to be great and I think with a great O'line coach he will be again. Keep him and let the Joe put a boot up his rear to bring back the old Samuels.

Portis rushed for practically 1600 yards last year. That's almost as much total offense as we had!

I don't think we owe Portis a 2nd because there was a rumor he was going to hold out either this or next year since he was a pro bowl back making 300,000 a year. Both teams get a critical position to their team and both lose a player that doesn't want to be there anymore.

The Bronco's players all seemed to think this was some kind of joke on the news!

I still think we can do better for champ, giving up a #2 in this deal should be a deal breaker, I would like to see someone else give denver a better offer than champ straight up!

Unless a better offer comes quickly this is the best the skins are gonna do w/o letting Bailey walk at the end of the season....

I would take the deal & try to move Betts for a better draft pick.

Example:
Skins / Steelers trade:

Ladell Betts & 3rd rd pick #68

for

2nd Rd pick #44
Moving down to pick #44 where the Steelers maybe looking to draft RB Greg Jones out of Florida State.

"Greg is a powerful & strong RB who is an angry and aggressive bruising back that loves to run over defenders. Plays with low pad level, good speed, balance, cuts, change of direction, & experienced. A top RB prospect."

This is a possibilty, the numbers & skill levels are probably pretty close.

Who was our second round pick last year? Oh yeah, Jacobs, and how much impact did he make again?

The only RBs in the league that are clearly better than Portis right now are Holmes, Tomlinson, and Lewis. The rest are pretty much even, and this includes Green Williams, Faulk, and James.

Brunell, even Champ one of the best CB's in the league says that Jacobs is the best talent this team has at receiver. I bet you anything he would have been starting opposite of Coles had it not been for a freak injury.

People assume rookies are ready to play that year, fact is many rookies take some time to develop unless you have a real special talent, or no one else to start like the Giants O Line!

I like the Portis deal. He's one of the best runners in the league right now, and he's only 22 years old. Having Portis back there will ultimately make our passing game more potent. This gives us a better chance to win. As for losing Champ at CB, Gregg Williams will adapt the defense to makeup for that weakness. Getting a guy like Jevon Kearse, for example, makes it so you don't have to have a shut down corner, just a guy (or couple of guys in zone D) that can go out there and hang with a receiver for just a few seconds. Portis in exchange for Champ gives us the best chance to win more ball games, very soon. If it weren't Portis, I'd be reluctant to give up that 2nd rounder, but the guy averages 1500yds/season and is only 22! He'll run for 2000 yds, score 20+ TD's for the Skins this year! He'll break every Skins rushing record that exists if he stays with the team for an extended period of time. With Ramsey, Coles, and Portis, we are a team that is gonna at least make other teams worry about. We'll have a decent defense with Williams at the helm. Sorry if this post seems unorganized, it probably is. I'm just writing off the top of my head.

i would like to see them move samuels to somebody for a second round pick.he has played with his head up his rearend the last two years anyway.i can't see gibbs trading betts, definetley canidate though.and the rock will most likeley be back.i heard the reason they traded the 2nd pick was because they were sure that they would have to spend that money on portis anyways.
