Thought I would try a new way to talk about the ownership of the Redskins and instead of just bashing the current owner why not ask posters who they would choose to be their new owner of the Skins and to state why.

So I will go ahead and say I would take Bob Kraft because he is willing to spend what it takes to build a winner but he also lets his football people run the team without interfering too much.

Dan Rooney. He doesnt spend a lot, doesnt fall in love with players and sign them to huge contracts, has players ready to step in and play as good or better than the high $ guy they let sign somewhere else, knows and understand the value of draft picks and the draft. Oh yea, six Super Bowls doesnt hurt either.

I'd volunteer myself for the job. I'd be more than happy to hire actual football people to handle that aspect of the team. I'd be pretty content to sit back and collect the profits. I'd be completely willing to put this plan into action if you guys care to lend me $1.5 billion or so...

as far as the serious aspect of the question goes, it's hard to argue with Rooney.

I second Bleed Burgundy's nomination. How much cash do you have again? It doesn't matter.

Ted Leonsis. Why? Because he made the same mistakes Dan Snyder did, trying to buy a championship, but the big difference is, he learned from that mistake and allowed the professionals (professional being the operative word) to develop a plan, starting with the sell off of high priced veterans, and selling them off for draft picks, utilized smart drafting, and build the Caps on a long term success plan. Just look at the Caps. You have a free agent like Shaone Morrisonn for instance who decided to leave for a bigger contract, you have Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Joe Finely and other prospects int he wings waiting. Many NFL teams are like that as well, drafting smart, keeping draft picks as premium, and building success through rejuvenation. That doesn't happen at Ashburn.

Good pick. The Leonsis story is a good one. Seems to have it together.

I was thinking and Ted Turner came to mind. Not afraid to spend money, desparately wants to win, and is a smart dude. After thinking about it though he is too similar to DS.

Here's an article in which he gave a 10 point building plan, said he couldn't comment on football or the skins, but his plan for how a team needs to become a contender

On March 4, 2008, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Roethlisberger agreed to an eight-year, $102 million contract.

Check out Ben's stats compared to JC's . NFL Stats: by Player Category

Big Bens QB rating was 80.1 compared to JC's 84.3

I'd say that 102 million is kinda overpaying, wouldn't you?

Ben wins. ben puts his team in position to win. Ben has a team that has been built base don a franchise plan, smart drafting, etc... We have none of that. Sorry, I'd take Ben any day.

That's not the question. The question is would you take Ben AND his 100 million dollar contract.

I don't care if he wins 5 super bowls. If you're going to pay him like that for performance and he's got a sub 85 QB rating, well, then you're throwing away money. If you're a great organization like the Steelers, you could win those playoff games with someone else.

The Roethlisberger deal is pretty ridiculous. It will look fine as long as they are winning, but once the victories dry up, he's going to be the most overpaid athlete in professional sports.

I was just trying to show Irish that the steelers do indeed over pay for players and he's not even one of there best players.

The Steelers paid 1 guy at the most important position on the field a big contract for winning 2 super bowls. I think paying a 2x Super Bowl winner and now future hall of famer $100 million in the prime of his career is worth it. Its the toughest position on the field and the hardest position to find a franchise player. All things considered I think the Steelers paid what the needed to pay to keep their QB.

One thing I am sure the Steelers would never do is spend $100 million on a D lineman.

The steelers number one defense puts them in position to win. Not Big Ben and his 17 interceptions.
