Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
I think ultimately our FO is satisfied with the Bridges/Heyer/Williams/Jansen battle for RT. Levi would def be an upgrade if healthy.

Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
I think you are right. Without making a normative assessment (I can't really comment on Jones' ability at this point in his career and have never seen him play) I doubt the F.O. will bring in Jones.

Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
Agreed. He costs more to cut than keep, so he'll make the 53 man, but IMO it will be as a backup center/guard.

I say sign him if its not going to be too expensive and he is healthy.

Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
He will probably go to a team where he has the best shot at being the starter, I am not 100% sure we are that team. I would like for him to come here, but it could be iffy.

Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
Given our need at RT the front office should at least look into it. If he's too costly and we have to pass him up, then I can live with that. But we at least have to look.

Re: Levi Jones released by the Bengals
Jones was due to make $3M this year in Cincy. He will not be signing for chump change wherever he goes.
There is something strange going on here. Levi Jones can still play; he is not old and he's not wracked with injuries. He does not have the reputation for being "felonious". So, why are the Bengals - - not a team with a real deep roster - - so anxious to draft his replacement and move him out? Is there something dark here? Or is this just an example of why the Bengals are the Bengals?

That might not count for being "wracked" with injuries by Redskins standards, but missing 1/3 of the teams games over the past three season's doesn't exactly suggest he is reliable. I don't think you need to go searching too deeply for "darkness," they must have perceived him as an injury risk with diminishing returns whose replacement was already in-house. Whether that is right or not I don't know, but I don't think you need a conspiracy theory to explain the release.

I do not think an often injured player is someone we should be looking at. He had a season ending injury last year, and we have had enough of that. All the haters on Jansen...I am one of the few that thinks he might be able to make a solid comeback this year after a year of strengthening and conditioning his injured parts. Jansen was a GREAT tackle until injuries just derailed his career. I think we might be a little shocked how much better he will be. Then again, I could be wrong. Still, want to see if he can regain his form.

Your basic flow then is don't get the oft injured tackle, lets count on the oft injured tackle. We obviously are doing the Golden Corral of RT's so we might as well have a serving of Levi on our plate if we can sign him appropriately. |
