Recommendation for Coles
I know Coles has a hurt toe, but he may want to try to catch with his feet next weekend. It does not seem like his hands work anymore...

Gotta be the refs. The first touchdown was bullshit. Glenn literally threw W.Harris to the ground. Gardner was CLEARLY interfered in the endzone by Williams. If you take those two plays, that's 1 less td for Dallass and either a td or field goal for the skins.
I hate to use the refs as an excuse, but those two calls were clearly the refs mistakes. At least our guys fought hard until the end. No one ever gave up, and I don't care what Wilbon wrote on his column today, but Brunell is getting more comfortable with the offense and he did make some great plays towards the end. Next week: Cleveland. Time to put this game behind us, and go win a road game. We need this win badly! |

I have to give this prestigious award to the refs. Even the commentators agreed that they blew two HUGE pass interference plays.

No one is above criticism. While the referees did a dishonorable job at best, it was the coaching staff that lost this game. The offense was one dimensional in that Portis was the focus of our running game. Gibbs did not even play Betts at runningback. He also never called one screen pass in the first half of the game. When he did call them he was successful at moving ball. When I defense did their job in the first half of the game, we came up short because of dropped balls and poor play calling. Cooley, Rasby, Morton and Betts should have been used on every other play because Portis was not successful at breaking the tackles. Settling for a field goal instead of a TD was embarrassing. Anyone could see Dallas was biting on the Portis run so why didn't Gibbs call the bootleg? The timeout at the goal was uneccessary and it cost us a TD. Lastly, we do not need an ex-referee to advise this team because he must hate the Redskins with the track record he has.
Overall, the team finished better than it started. I see the offense winning the next couple of games soley on its ability to control the ball. We lead Dallas on almost every stat accept the score.

OUR 'REF'. the 'specialist' Gibbs hired in the booth to oversee challenges!!! he's done nothing but drop the ball on challenges this whole season and its always been the difference in our games!!!!! |

OL gave up 5 sacks.
OL could not get enough push to score on first and goal from the one yard line. Hmmm... Least valuable? Let me see...

THe offensive line, or more specifically Chris Samuels and Ray Brown. Samuels for doubling down and letting Tony Dixon come free on a blitz, and Brown for letting Ellis get that late sack. Five sacks in a game, two by Ellis and two by Dixon are just too many to be giving up.

Some of the sacks/pressure was also due to the cowboys coverage and Brunell's indecisiveness.
The blown calls and poor clock management were much bigger issues in my mind. |

I am so angry right now that I want to kill someone. I don't usually complain about officiating but I think the refs handed Dallas that game last night. That pass interference call was disgraceful! You can not minimize the importance of the first TD in a game like that and those refs handed it to Dallas. They had the good fortune of playing with the lead all night long by virtue of a TD gift that they didn't earn. The first TD changes the whole complexion of the game. And to add insult to injury the refs choose not to call the obvious pass interference in the second half against Dallas in the end zone! There was also the muffed punt that for some reason they decided to change their mind on and give back to Dallas after first signaling Washington. They obviously disagreed on the call so why not leave it as a fumble recovered by Washington and then allow Dallas to challenge it? As it was the Redskins were not allowed to challenge their down by contact call. I am so f-ing furios!
In fairness they messed up the Portis play where he was down by contact and allowed to get up and run for a first down. I guess that proves that the refs didn't purposely screw the Skins they were just bad all around last night, and we happened to get the brunt of it. |
