Gibbs NOT a good loser
but then, who would ever want him to be. certainly not me. Norv was a good loser.
did you guys notice Gibbs COMPLETELY brush Parcells off at the end of the game with the handshake? Gibbs looked away and made for the lockerroom just before their hands even met. he was PISSED. we watched it on slow mo Tivo repeatedly. i think Parcells understood, cuz he handled it pretty decently, but it showed just how much Gibbs wanted this game. Parcells was happy with himself for getting under Gibbs' skin and Gibbs couldnt even look at him. it was SO painful to watch. ugh, Parcells still have Gibbs' number?? :screama: |

Parcells doesn't have anything that belongs to Gibbs. This man will work day and night to get this offense in the high powered scoring numbers it is capable of. Gibbs still has a Superbowl more than Parcells and is already in the Hall of Fame. I know he wanted the fans to have this game more than himself. He sees and reads the medias's biased view of the Redskins and feels our frustrations.

I think he was pissed at himself because this was such a winnable game and he kinda blew it with the clock management and the attempt at the no-huddle. He'll get it together, there were two drives when the offense started to click and you can see how the timing in the running game was starting to come together.
I think Parcells does have his number in that he does some things that frustrate Gibbs. Gibbs wanted to get a big play desparately, hence all the deep balls early, and not being able to hit on any of them really ate at him. But it's coming, the longer these guys work together the more you can see them starting to gel. It will take time, probably up until the bye week, but we'll come together this season (provided Brunell can stay healthy). I definitely feel better about the direction of the offense at this point of the season even being 1-2 as opposed to last year when we started 2-1. |

He shook his hand, who cares if he didn't look at him.
First LaVar is having too much fun in the box and now Gibbs wasn't a gracious enough loser. Yawn |

kinda opposite observations on them really. the point is NO ONE on our team should be taking losses well, its good to see that both LaVar and Gibbs don't.

I hear your point Ill, I guess I was just reacting to some things I've read on other boards where people were critical of Gibbs for not being a 'good loser'.
Sorry man, good point. |

the difference in being a COMPETITOR vs. a good SPORT. Parcells wouldve done the same exact thing. hope these guys battle it out for years to come. |

I think we can take a lot from this loss. First off Gardner IS a deep threat when the game is on the line. Secondly our offense is beginning to come together almost all around from Brunnel throwing a nice tight spiral, to Portis busting up the middle for 10, to our tight ends becoming desperately needed weapons. Our offensive line took a step back as did our defense, but you could argue that our best athletes weren't on the field for both units, Jansen= an extra second or two for Brunnel every down and Arrington= a tremendous pass rush threat at any time during the game and possibly even a big time play that could have won last nights game.
As for Gibbs being a sore loser, he and Parcells go way back. Remember 56, LT, of the Giants was the one who ended Theisman's career and because of that it took an additional two years to find the right QB in Doug Williams to win Gibbs next superbowl. Well we have a number 56 now, LA, and if he played last night would have been sent hunting after Vinny boy. Also Gibbs lost the NFC championship against Parcells in early 87. Gibbs said that he used to hate going up to the Meadowlands to play the Giants, from the fans to facing Parcells in his own back yard. I believe that Parcells is the only coach to have a winning record against Gibbs. So there is a lot of history between these two guys. Both Gibbs and Parcells have admitted to being friends off the field but when its time to coach the two wont speak to each other for years at a time. Put all that together overtop of the Skins Vs. Boys and you have one hell of a game. So just because Gibbs didn't look Parcells in the eye after the game, don't consider that sore, consider it a burning fire in the pit of Gibbs stomach that has been raging ever since he came back in January to win so bad and turn this franchise around that losing is not an option. And you better believe Gibbs has been waiting for this game ever since the schedules came out and to lose it knowing that it should have been won is hard to swallow. At least he shook Parcells hand after the game, not like Buddy Ryan who would run off the field after a loss not looking or talking to anyone. Now thats a sore loser. :thumb: |

jesus, mary, and joseph.what did you want him to do? give him a big fat wet one?they probably spoke before the game away from the cameras, and if they did'nt,i do'nt care.the only lesson you can learn from losing is the fact that you hate it like hell.can't say i'm much happier than gibbs now, especially after all those silly bullshit calls last night.but there are enough reasons the skins lost other than the zebras.poor clock management, and brain farts in play calling withstanding.the game is over,it's one of 16 time for the clevland browns.i can't wait till dec 26 in dallas.

If there was a Cowboy fan watching the game with you last night, would you wanna go shake his hand and say good game. When the time expired, I threw my hat and banged on the wall. I think Gibbs handled it fine, EVERYONE really wanted this one.

He's frustrated with himself because he's a professional and that is why we brought him back. He's not going to blame his players by rotating QB's evry two plays a la Spurrier. He sticks with guys and lets them break out of funks. You think Spurrier would have left Brunell in after his 0-7 streak? Gibbs blames himself and you can bet he'll be sleeping in Redskin Park this week watching tape and preparing for the Browns.
Who wants a good loser anyway? We've dealt with that for the better part of a decade now. |

Gibbs takes losing hard, I can't blame him.
I can relate to a point, losing just isn't something to be accepted. I've walked away from games before without shaking hands with opponents, it's not meant to disrespect the opponent but at that moment I'm so furious with losing I can't stand to put on a happy face and shake someone's hand. If you want to see a diss check out Gregg Williams, he jogged by Parcells and patted him on the shoulder, didn't even stop to shake his hand. |
